Our independent tunnelling contractor client is seeking a Planner to be based out of Coventry supporting on a range of projects supporting Water industry clients on a permanent basis.\n\nOur client specialises in Microtunnelling, Auger Boring, Shaft Sinking, Pipe Jacking, and traditional tunnelling methods. They deliver a comprehensive range of services to the water and civil engineering industries across the UK & Ireland - providing fully integrated project solutions - from segmental shafts to full project management and final landscaping - tailored to meet the needs of complex engineering environments.\n\nThe Planner will join a Coventry-based team on a permanent basis. With hybrid working available, you will be responsible for developing, maintaining, and monitoring project programmes that support the safe and efficient delivery of tunnelling and civil engineering schemes from covering tendering, pre‑construction, delivery, and completion phases.\n\nKey Responsibilities\n\nDevelop and maintain detailed project programmes using Primavera P6 and Microsoft Project.\nSupport tender submissions by producing bid programmes, methodologies, and sequencing strategies.\nCollaborate with project managers, engineers, and commercial teams to ensure accurate and achievable schedules.\nMonitor progress, identify delays or risks, and propose effective mitigation measures.\nProduce programme updates, dashboards, look‑ahead schedules, and client‑ready reports.\nAssist with planning specialist tunnelling operations (Microtunnelling, Pipe Jacking, Shaft Sinking, Auger Boring).\nConduct site visits to verify progress and maintain accurate as‑built programme records.\nEnsure all planning outputs align with company standards, NEC contract requirements, and client expectations.Skills/experience/qualifications\n\nProven experience in planning within civil engineering, infrastructure, or tunnelling.\nStrong proficiency with Primavera P6 and Microsoft Project \nAbility to interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and technical documentation.\nUnderstanding of construction methodologies and sequencing.\nExcellent communication and organisational skills.\nStrong analytical mindset and high attention to detail.\nExperience in water industry or specialist tunnelling projects.\nKnowledge of NEC contract requirements.\nRelevant engineering or construction qualifications.Benefits\n\nSalary circa £60,000 per annum.\nCar allowance.\nGenerous holiday provision\nHybrid working (office/home balance) ideally 3 days based in Coventry\nProfessional development and career progression opportunities.\nA supportive and collaborative working environment.\nExposure to high‑profile and technically challenging engineering projects.\nThe chance to join the UK's most experienced independent tunnelling contractors
