Interim Direct Tax Manager3-Month Contract | Day Rate | 3 Days per Week in Oxford Our client, a leading organisation in its sector, is seeking an experienced Interim Direct Tax Manager to join their Group Tax function on a 3-month contract. This is a hands-on role within a dynamic, international business, offering the opportunity to make an immediate impact during a period of growth and transformation. The role will be based in the company's Oxford office, with a requirement to be on-site three days per week. The Role Reporting to the Tax Director and working closely with senior finance stakeholders, you will take responsibility for managing corporate tax compliance and supporting group tax reporting across a global structure. This is a broad and commercially focused position that will suit a technically strong tax professional who is comfortable operating in a fast-paced environment and driving process improvements. Key Responsibilities * Oversee the outsourced corporate tax compliance process for the UK group and overseas subsidiaries, ensuring timely and accurate filings * Review tax returns and liaise with external advisors and internal finance teams * Support corporate tax matters including R&D tax credit claims and detailed technical analysis * Manage aspects of year-end and interim group tax reporting, including preparation of tax workbooks and disclosures * Lead transfer pricing compliance, including preparation/review of master and local files and oversight of calculations * Contribute to monthly tax reporting, including balance sheet reconciliations and journal preparation * Support tax administration activities (advisor management, budgeting, accruals, tax authority correspondence) * Prepare and coordinate tax-related forms (e.g. certificates of residency, withholding tax returns) * Assist with tax enquiries and ad hoc advisory projects relating to international expansion, patent box, tax efficiency and governance * Identify and implement process improvements, leveraging technology where appropriate Candidate Profile * Qualified accountant and/or tax specialist * Minimum 3 years' post-qualified tax experience * Strong grounding in corporate tax compliance and tax accounting * Good understanding of double-entry bookkeeping * Excellent organisational skills with the ability to prioritise and meet tight deadlines * Strong communication skills and stakeholder management capability * Proficient in Excel (including Pivot Tables, LOOKUP and IF formulae) * Proactive, detail-oriented and comfortable working both independently and collaboratively Experience within industry, listed businesses, or exposure to D365 (or similar ERP systems) would be advantageous, as would an interest in tax technology and automation.
