Test Equipment Design Support Engineer Location: Bolton Working pattern: On site based, option for compressed week Duration: 6 Months Rate: £6 ph Umbrella We have a phenomenal opportunity for experienced Electronic Design Engineers to play a leading role in the support of production activities at our state of the art manufacturing facilities. Working within Production Design Support (PDS) is a highly rewarding role as you not only see designs coming to life in the manufacturing environment but you can help to shape the design of the products and test equipment, delivering support to our customers. Responsibilities You will act as the interface between our design teams and our manufacturing teams while working alongside other support engineers to provide knowledge and support. Whilst the primary aim is focused on highly advanced module missile programmes and subsystems, there is also scope to work on other unique opportunities including support to launcher assemblies. The role offers the candidate a true engineering challenge in their core discipline, whilst providing scope for personal growth and development in other areas of electronics. Key Skillset To be suitable for this role, Individuals will be able to demonstrate a number of the following attributes: Proven ability of designing product/systems and/or providing support to designs through the manufacturing phase of the product lifecycle. Proven ability in the design of one or more of the following disciplines:- Digital and Analogue electronics Power Electronics RF & Antenna Interconnects Safety Electronics Test Systems Schematic design PCB Design Adherence to BS EN Standards Experience of working within a multi-disciplinary team, with an awareness of the challenges and opportunities that this may bring and a passion for innovation and collaboration. Were supporting a UK defence manufacturer on the lookout for a detail focused Microelectronics Assembly Operator to join a high performing production team working on advanced electronic assemblies. This role is ideal for candidates from electronics manufacturing, PCB assembly, micro soldering or medical/automotive electronics backgrounds. Key Responsibilities: Soldering and assembling microelectronic components under a microscope Building and reworking PEC / CCA assemblies to exacting quality standards Reading and following detailed work instructions, layouts and build packs Carrying out certified manufacturing tasks in line with IPC and ESD standards Working in a cleanroom style, high precision environment Tentatively work across several departments, these might include: Looming: binding wire looming is a cable assembly that efficiently distributes electrical signals by linking cables together using a crimping tool. (Ex; wiring, root wiring, soldering and fibre optics cabling), PEC and CCA Assembly Microelectronics Plastics Department (Ex; applying glues, cutting out intricate patterns, and moulding). Manufacturing Controller/Stores What do you need?: Proven experience in micro soldering or fine pitch electronics assembly Confident working under a microscope for long periods Excellent manual dexterity and attention to detail Ability to follow technical drawings and manufacturing instructions ESD aware working practices IPC 610 certification (preferred, not essential) Additional skills: Experience utilising a soldering iron and working with manufacturing micro-components Experience using a microscope/magnifying glass What happens now?
