Senior Reactor Fault Studies Analyst Advanced Nuclear / SMR Programme Location: Derby / Manchester / Warrington | Hybrid Working Available Salary: £53,800 - £66,500 + Bonus & Excellent Benefits Morson are supporting a pioneering advanced engineering organisation as they continue to expand their specialist Performance & Analysis capability, contributing to one of the UK's most exciting low-carbon energy programmes. This is a rare opportunity to work at the forefront of reactor performance and fault studies, supporting the modelling, analysis, and safety substantiation of advanced nuclear technology within a highly regulated and safety-critical environment. The Role Working within the specialist Performance & Analysis function, you will lead the development and application of thermal-hydraulic models used to assess reactor plant performance under normal operation, transient conditions, and fault scenarios. You will take technical ownership of complex analysis activities, leading small teams to deliver high-quality modelling and simulation outputs that support reactor design, safety system performance, and safety case development. The role requires close collaboration with multidisciplinary teams across design, safety, and testing to ensure robust and validated engineering solutions. Key Areas: • Reactor plant thermal-hydraulic modelling & fault analysis, • Reactor transient and operational performance analysis, • Verification, Validation & Uncertainty Quantification (VVUQ), • Safety case development & substantiation, • Python-based analysis tool development, • Linux & High-Performance Computing (HPC), • Experimental benchmarking & test validation, • Advanced reactor & SMR technologies We'd Love to Hear From You If You Have:, • Strong background in thermal hydraulics, fluid systems, or process analysis, • Experience delivering analysis in safety-critical engineering environments, • Knowledge of reactor performance, transient behaviour, and fault studies, • Experience producing high-quality technical reports and contributing to safety cases, • Experience in developing or applying engineering analysis methods and models, • Python programming for scientific or engineering applications, • Proven ability to lead technical work packages or small teams Experience with the below would be highly advantageous:, • RELAP, • FLOMASTER, • VIPRE, • CTF, • GOTHIC Qualifications, • Degree qualified in Engineering, Physics, Mathematics, Computer Science, or similar, • Chartered Engineer status, or working towards chartership, desirable Salary & Benefits, • Salary between £53,800 – £66,500, • Bonus up to 12.5%, • £2,200 flexible benefits allowance, • Excellent pension scheme, • 28 days holiday + bank holidays, with option to buy/sell additional days, • Private medical insurance, • Life assurance, • Enhanced family-friendly policies including IVF support, • Flexible & hybrid working, • Home office allowance This is an opportunity to join a rapidly growing advanced engineering organisation delivering one of the UK's most innovative and technically challenging programmes.
