Staff Engineer / Tech Lead Tech Stack: React, NestJS, cloud platforms, Docker, Kubernetes Location: Fully remote (Optional Once a Quarter for Workshops/Events in Cardiff) Salary: up to £84,000 Benefits: Share / bonus scheme, 6% matched pension and other Contract type: Full time, permanent Sanderson Recruitment are exclusively supporting a FTSE 100 Financial Services and Insurance business in the search for a Staff Software Engineer. This is a unique opportunity to provide technical leadership, drive engineering best practices, and deliver scalable, high-quality solutions that support the organisation’s long-term technology goals. As a Staff Software Engineer, you will provide technical direction across multiple teams, mentor engineers, and play a key role in shaping the technical/strategic roadmap. You’ll collaborate with senior leadership to ensure engineering outputs are robust, secure, and aligned with strategic objectives. Key Responsibilities • Provide technical leadership and mentorship to engineers across multiple teams., • Oversee the design, quality, and delivery of scalable technical solutions., • Drive improvements in CI/CD, automation, testing, and secure development practices., • Collaborate with senior leadership on technical strategy, risk management, and roadmap planning., • Lead the resolution of technical constraints, blockers, and integration challenges., • Promote engineering values and facilitate clear communication and knowledge sharing., • Identify and address technical debt, ensuring sustainability and continuous improvement. Required Skills and Experience • Significant experience as a Senior or Staff Software Engineer, • Expertise in React and NestJS, including server-side rendering, state management, and API development., • Strong background in designing micro frontend (MFE) architectures and optimising CI/CD, automation, and testing practices., • Extensive experience with cloud-native environments (preferably GCP and Azure, AWS experience will also be considered), containerisation, and infrastructure tools (Docker, Kubernetes, Helm, Terraform)., • Skilled in performance optimisation and secure development practices, • Proven leadership, mentorship, and collaboration skills across multiple teams and stakeholders., • Excellent communication, problem-solving, and continuous improvement mindset.
