Location: Lichfield Pay: £28+ per hour Job Type: Temporary, ongoing (covering sickness absence and extended vetting processes) We are currently seeking an experienced Functional Skills English Tutor to deliver Level 1 and Level 2 Functional Skills within a prison education setting. This is a rewarding opportunity to support learners in developing essential English skills that enhance employability and rehabilitation. Key Responsibilities • Deliver high-quality Level 1 and Level 2 Functional Skills English sessions to adult learners, • Plan engaging, inclusive lessons tailored to a range of abilities and learning needs, • Assess learner progress and provide clear, constructive feedback, • Prepare learners for Functional Skills assessments and examinations, • Maintain accurate learner records, including attendance, progress, and achievement, • Promote positive behaviour, motivation, and learner engagement in a custodial environment, • Work collaboratively with education staff, prison staff, and support services, • Ensure all teaching complies with safeguarding, health & safety, and prison security requirementsRequired Skills & Qualifications, • Teaching qualification (PGCE, Cert Ed, or equivalent) or relevant teaching/training experience, • Functional Skills English Level 2 (or equivalent), • Proven experience delivering Functional Skills English at L1 and L2, • Strong classroom and behaviour management skills, • Ability to engage, motivate, and support adult learners with varied educational backgrounds, • Excellent communication, organisation, and interpersonal skills, • Experience within prison education, FE, or adult education (desirable but not essential)Why Work With Reed?, • Exclusive access to roles across leading FE colleges and training providers, • 1-2-1 support from a Specialist SEN Consultant (including CV help & interview prep), • Health Cash Plan & REED Discount Club, • Statutory Sick Pay, Maternity, Paternity & Adoption Pay, • Access to REED Learning & Development programmes
