Web Developer Wakefield | Hybrid (3 Days On-Site) Permanent | Full-Time We’re looking for a Mid–Senior Web Developer to join a growing digital team based in Wakefield. This is a hands-on role where you’ll work across both front-end and back-end development, contributing to modern, user-focused web applications used in real-world commercial environments. You’ll be trusted with meaningful responsibility, involved in technical decisions, and encouraged to shape how things are built. The Role: You’ll be part of a collaborative development team, working closely with designers, product owners and stakeholders to deliver high-quality web solutions. This role suits a developer who enjoys problem-solving, writing clean and maintainable code, and seeing their work make a tangible impact. You’ll split your time across front-end and back-end development, with the opportunity to lean into your strengths while continuing to grow your skill set. What You’ll Be Doing: • Building responsive, high-performance user interfaces using React and modern JavaScript, • Developing and maintaining secure, scalable backend services using PHP and Node.js, • Designing, querying and optimising SQL Server databases, • Collaborating with designers and product owners to improve user journeys and functionality, • Contributing to UI/UX discussions and helping shape intuitive interfaces, • Taking part in code reviews, sprint planning and team stand-ups, • Troubleshooting, improving and refactoring existing applications, • Following best practices for performance, security and maintainability What We’re Looking For: • 3–6+ years commercial web development experience, • Strong front-end skills with React, JavaScript, HTML5 and CSS3, • Solid back-end experience with PHP and Node.js, • Experience working with SQL Server (schemas, queries, optimisation, stored procedures), • Good understanding of RESTful APIs and modern development workflows, • Experience using Git in a team environment, • Comfortable working on-site in Wakefield, three days per week, • Strong communication skills and a practical, problem-solving mindset Nice to Have (Not Essential): • Interest or experience in UI/UX design, • Knowledge of TypeScript, • Exposure to cloud platforms (AWS, Azure or similar), • Experience with CI/CD pipelines You don’t need to tick every box, they are more interested in strong fundamentals and a willingness to learn.
