Location: Ellesmere Port, Cheshire Salary: £95 - £110 per day (dependent on experience) Contract Type: [Full-time and Part-time] Start Date: ASAP Job Purpose To provide dedicated support to pupils with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), helping them to access learning, develop independence, and reach their full potential within a safe, inclusive, and supportive school environment. Key Responsibilities • Provide 1:1 or small group support to pupils with SEND, • Assist the class teacher in delivering personalised learning plans tailored to individual needs, • Support pupils with communication, social interaction, and emotional regulation, • Adapt learning materials and activities to meet specific needs, • Work closely with the SENCO, teachers, and external professionals where required, • Monitor and record pupil progress, providing regular feedback to teaching staff, • Promote positive behaviour and implement behaviour support strategies, • Support pupils with personal care where necessary, • Encourage independence and confidence in learning and social situationsPerson SpecificationEssential Requirements, • Experience working with children with SEND (e.g. autism, ADHD, speech and language needs, or SEMH), • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, • Patience, empathy, and a nurturing approach, • Ability to build positive relationships with pupils, staff, and parents, • Basic literacy and numeracy skills (GCSEs or equivalent in English and Maths), • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of childrenDesirable, • Relevant Teaching Assistant qualification (Level 2 or Level 3), • Additional training in SEND (e.g. Autism Awareness, Team Teach, or behavioural support), • Experience working within a primary or secondary school settingKey Skills & Attributes, • Calm and resilient under pressure, • Flexible and adaptable approach, • Strong observational skills, • Ability to follow structured support plans and routines, • Team player with a proactive attitudeWhat We Offer, • A welcoming and supportive school environment, • Opportunities for training and CPD in SEND, • A collaborative and experienced staff team, • A highly rewarding role making a difference in pupils’ livesSafeguarding This role is subject to an enhanced DBS check.
