Specialist SEN Teaching Assistant – Chester | TalentBoard Are you motivated by helping children with additional needs feel understood, supported and able to succeed? What You’ll Be Doing as an SEN TA in Chester You’ll be supporting pupils with a wide mix of needs, which may include: • Autism and social communication differences, • Learning delay or global developmental delay, • SEMH (social, emotional & mental health) needs, • Sensory processing differences, • Limited, delayed or non-verbal communication, • Providing tailored 1:1 support guided by the pupil’s EHCP, • Assisting small groups with structured learning activities, • Using visual aids, assistive communication tools and supportive teaching strategies, • Helping pupils manage emotions through calm, nurturing approaches, • Encouraging engagement in lessons, routines and social interactions, • Working closely with teachers, SENCOs, therapists and pastoral leads Who We’re Looking For You do not need previous school experience — we welcome applicants from backgrounds such as: • Care or residential support, • Mental health, wellbeing or therapy-related services, • Youth work, mentoring or family support, • Social care and community services, • Sports coaching, outdoor education or activity leadership, • Patient, warm and compassionate, • Confident supporting communication, sensory or behavioural needs, • Resilient and able to stay calm under pressure, • Ready to learn and develop specialist SEN knowledge, • Reliable, consistent and committed to helping children grow We support a variety of schools across Chester and nearby areas.
