Multi-Skilled Building Maintenance Technician (Facilities Technician) Job Summary We are seeking a skilled Multi-Skilled Building Maintenance Technician to carry out a wide range of construction, repair, and maintenance works across residential and commercial properties. The role focuses on practical building trades skills including carpentry, plumbing, minor electrical works, plastering, tiling, and structural repairs to ensure buildings remain safe, functional, and compliant. This position requires a high level of technical competence and independent working ability across multiple construction disciplines. Key Responsibilities (Building-Focused) • Carry out planned and reactive maintenance to building fabric and structure, • Perform carpentry and joinery tasks (doors, frames, flooring, partitions, fittings), • Undertake plumbing repairs including pipework, fixtures, and drainage systems, • Complete minor electrical works such as replacing fittings, sockets, and lighting (within competence), • Conduct plastering, patch repairs, tiling, painting, and finishing works, • Repair roofing elements, gutters, windows, and external building components, • Install and repair kitchens, bathrooms, and built-in fixtures, • Diagnose building faults and structural issues, • Ensure compliance with UK building regulations and safety standards, • Maintain tools, materials, and work areas in safe condition, • Liaise with contractors and site management as required, • Proven experience in construction or building maintenance, • Strong practical skills across multiple trades, • Ability to read basic technical drawings and specifications, • Knowledge of building materials, methods, and regulations, • Problem-solving and fault-finding ability, • Ability to work independently and manage workload, • Good communication skills Desirable: • Formal trade qualification (e.g., carpentry, plumbing, building maintenance), • Experience in commercial or large residential settings, • Health & Safety training (e.g., CSCS card)
