The successful candidate will be responsible for carrying out a variety of general repairs, maintenance and remedial works across residential and commercial properties. You will help ensure properties are safe, well maintained and fully functional for occupants, tenants and site users. This is a hands-on role suited to someone with a broad range of practical maintenance skills who takes pride in completing work to a high standard. Key Responsibilities • Carry out general property repairs and maintenance works., • Undertake basic plumbing, carpentry, painting and minor electrical works., • Complete remedial and reactive maintenance tasks., • Assist with installations, furniture assembly and small refurbishment projects., • Carry out routine maintenance and basic safety checks., • Identify and report faults, defects and issues requiring specialist attention., • Maintain tools, equipment and work areas in a safe and organised condition., • Complete records of work undertaken and report completed jobs., • Work closely with tenants, site managers and other trades and contractors., • Follow all relevant health and safety procedures and site requirements., • Ensure work is completed efficiently, professionally and to a good standard. Essential Experience & Qualifications • Proven experience working in a handyman, maintenance or general property maintenance role., • Good practical knowledge of basic building trades, including plumbing, carpentry and electrical work., • Practical and confident approach to diagnosing and resolving general maintenance issues., • Good understanding of UK health and safety requirements., • Valid CSCS card, or willingness to obtain one., • Ability to work independently and manage a varied workload., • Full UK driving licence would be advantageous. Desirable • NVQ Level 2 in Maintenance Operations or an equivalent qualification., • Previous experience within property management, facilities management or a housing association., • Experience working across residential and/or commercial properties., • Confident use of handheld tools and maintenance equipment., • Good communication and customer service skills., • Strong timekeeping and reliability., • Professional and positive approach when dealing with tenants, customers and colleagues. Our projects include: • Home extensions, • Loft conversions, • Full and partial property renovations, • Internal remodelling and refurbishment Typical contract values range from £40,000 to £250,000, with an average project value of approximately £70,000. This role is designed for someone who wants the independence and earning potential of running projects without having to worry about finding customers, generating leads, running sales calls, issuing contracts, chasing invoices or managing back-office administration. We find the work and run the back office. You deliver the projects. How the role works The company generates enquiries and works with homeowners to understand their plans, budget and project requirements. Once we identify a promising opportunity, you will: 1. Visit the property and meet the client in person., 2. Discuss the proposed work in detail., 3. Assess the site and identify potential risks or challenges., 4. Scope the work and prepare an accurate, commercially viable quotation., 5. Support our internal team with any technical questions required to close the project.
