Field Service Engineer - North West\n\nLocation: North West\n\nAbout the Company\n\nOur client is a global leader in providing world‑class loading and unloading solutions to logistics, manufacturing, FMCG, and parcel handling organisations. They design, manufacture, install, and service both automatic and manual loading systems from facilities in the UK, USA, and the Netherlands.\n\nDue to continued growth, they are now looking for a Field Service Engineer to join their Engineering Service Support Team. You may be an existing field service engineer or a multi-skilled maintenance engineer looking to move into a field based role!\n\nThe Role\n\nAs a Field Service Engineer, you’ll play a key role in ensuring the ongoing performance, reliability, and safety of our clients’ systems. Working both independently and as part of a wider engineering team, you’ll carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM), fault finding, repairs, and improvement initiatives across customer sites.\n\nYou’ll also take part in a call‑out rota and support installations and maintenance activities across the UK and occasionally overseas.\n\nKey Responsibilities\n\nCarry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) in line with schedules and contractual requirements\n\nDiagnose and repair both mechanical and electrical faults\n\nIdentify and recommend improvements to equipment and maintenance processes\n\nParticipate in the service and call‑out rota\n\nEnsure all work is completed safely and in compliance with Health & Safety legislation\n\nMaintain accurate records, reports, and professional written communication\n\nLiaise with engineering, operations, and customer teams to support innovation and continuous improvement\n\nEffectively manage workload, time, and priorities\n\nReport incidents, accidents, and near misses promptly, contributing to preventative strategies\n\nHealth & Safety\n\nComply with all company, client, and statutory Health & Safety policies\n\nFollow safe working practices, COSHH, fire, hygiene, and site rules\n\nRemain aware of site‑specific hazards and actively promote a safe working environment\n\nTraining & Development\n\nAttend performance development reviews (PDRs) and take ownership of your ongoing training\n\nParticipate in company and legislative training as required\n\nAdditional Responsibilities\n\nProvide support to other UK and international sites when required\n\nSafeguard company and client property and equipment\n\nBuild and maintain strong relationships with customers and colleagues\n\nEscalate issues and customer concerns appropriately\n\nShare best practices and process improvements across the team\n\nAbout You\n\nEssential Qualifications & Experience\n\nCity & Guilds qualification or completion of a recognised engineering apprenticeship in electrical or mechanical engineering\n\nProven experience in a similar engineering environment (e.g. logistics, FMCG, manufacturing, or parcel handling) working with Conveyor systems\n\nStrong background in delivering PPM schedules, KPIs, and services on customer sites\n\nExperience working in environments with robust permit‑to‑work systems\n\nTechnically competent in mechanical and electrical systems within distribution or sortation environments would be ideal\n\nDesirable Technical Experience\n\n * Conveyor Systems (essential)\n\n * Inverter drives\n\n * SCADA systems\n\n * PLC / PC‑based control systems\n\n * Profibus, AS‑i networks\n\nSkills & Attributes\n\n * Multi‑skilled, proactive, and self‑motivated engineer\n\n * Comfortable working independently and using initiative\n\n * Excellent time management and organisational skills\n\n * Strong communication and interpersonal skills\n\n * Confident producing reports and written documentation\n\n * Able to work under pressure and to tight deadlines\n\n * Willingness to travel across the UK and occasionally abroad\n\n * Ability to build long‑term, trusted relationships with customers\n\nWhat’s on Offer\n\n * Full product/systems training\n\n * Opportunity to work with industry‑leading technology\n\n * Ongoing training and career development\n\n * Varied and challenging role with autonomy and responsibility\n\n * Collaborative and supportive engineering team\n\n * Competitive salary and benefits package (dependent on experience)\n\n * Earnings potential £55k+ with overtime\n\nIf you’re a motivated Field Service Engineer looking for a hands‑on, technically challenging role with a global engineering business, we’d love to hear from you
