Scope of Role • Act as point of contact for at issue relating to ‘Pursuing a harm free future’ in your area/division of the business, • Ensure the provision of professional advice and solutions, ensuring compliance with legislation and best practice., • Work with the SHEQ Manager in the development and roll out of divisional plans, including support for improvement projects., • Support out of hours operations with occasional weekend and/or night work., • General Duties – Look Out for Ourselves, • Act as visible SHEQ champion, setting an example with SHEQ related behaviours and demonstration of JSM’s values., • Prioritise and manages a variety of day-to-day tasks with minimal supervision, operating with flexibility and with appropriate attention to detail. Meeting all relevant SHEQ Team KPI’s and performance requirements., • Maintain awareness of relevant JSM and Client procedures and other requirements. Discharge your specific duties for matters regarding SHEQ as defined in the company policies and procedures, efficiently and effectively., • Seek support as necessary for non-business as usual decision making or to aid in balancing inter-departmental priorities. General Duties – Look Out for Others • Lead others through expertise, influence and coaching of stakeholders, to avoid damage or loss and make decisions that impact operational efficiencies., • Maintains frequent formal and informal internal communication with operational teams, supervisors and managers and as necessary engaging with external contacts to clarify tasks and support requirements., • Use SHEQ data / KPI’s and dashboards to inform objective performance conversation with operational teams, management and where appropriate clients., • Support the development and delivery of site based SHEQ Awareness Training/Toolbox Talks/ Workshops., • Provide independent assurance (through regular audits and inspection) and advice on all SHEQ related matters. Ensuring that all requirements of the integrated management system are followed accordingly by each site/contract., • Undertake site competency checks for those undertaking critical risk activities e.g., • CAT & Genny Operations/Safe Digging, • Plant operators, • Deep Excavation / Temporary Works, • Ensure team support for compiling, reviewing and revising project SHEQ documentation and welfare set up, which can include, CPP’s / QMP’s / Risk Registers / Method Statements / Risk Assessments / COSHH Assessment / Emergency Plans etc: where applicable, • Monitor provision and effectiveness of adequate and existing welfare facilities, • Undertake specialist monitoring activity as required, • Alcohol & Drugs testing, • Face Fit Testing, • Legionella checks, • Act as dedicated SHEQ contact for specific permanent locations e.g. River Road, Creek Road, Potter Bar., • Undertake relevant facility safety activities as directed including Legionella checks, PAT testing, fire risk assessment updates., • Promote the proactive reporting of Close Calls, Acts & Conditions throughout the company., • Promote physical and mental health and wellbeing campaigns and initiatives to improve participation and engagement., • Ensure strict adherence to the reporting and recording procedures for accidents and dangerous occurrences as required under RIDDOR and any relevant client requirements. General Duties – Fix the System • Ensure the comprehensive Investigation of all accidents / incidents / utility damages / quality issues, applying Just Culture and a Human Factors approach to establish the root causes, and necessary preventative measures. Compiling/Approving the required reports in a timely manner., • Support the evolution of our Management System and maintenance of ISO 9001, 14001, 45001 certifications., • Act as ‘Subject Matter Expert’ and ‘Owner’ for specific SHEQ procedures/risks (Grade 7a), • Support (7b) / Lead (7a) Group/Divisional Continuous Improvement Projects., • Lead site-based improvement activities using the Problem-Solving Tool Kit / basic Lean & 5S principles, • Work collaboratively as part of the wider SHEQ Team supporting across operational divisions as necessary and undertake other relevant tasks as assigned by the SHEQ Manager. Skills - Essential • Experience in a SHEQ advisor role within a utilities or engineering environment., • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across departments and present confidently., • Good analytical and problem-solving skills, • Working knowledge of NRSWA and HSG47, • Working knowledge of ISO 9001, 14001 & 45001 and other industry accreditation., • A flexible and dynamic approach, pragmatic, diplomatic but assertive manner, able to work alone but also a team player., • Good organisational skills and attention to detail, • Computer literate and proficient in Microsoft Office software suite. Qualifications & Experience • Minimum Professional Qualifications, • NEBOSH Certificate (Grade 7b), • NEBOSH Diploma or other Level 6/7 qualification (Grade 7a), • Professional accreditation, • IOSH Graduate / Technical Safety Practitioner (Grade 7b), • IOSH Chartered Membership (Grade 7a), • Relevant Experience, • <3 years post NEBOSH Cert. qualification experience. (Grade 7b), • >3 years post NEBOS Cert. qualification experience (Grade 7a), • Knowledge of Behavioural Based Safety or Human Factors, • ISO Internal Auditor, • EUSR or CSCS Card WHAT WE OFFER YOU We truly value your work, time, and skills!
