SUMMARY The Brooklyn/Staten Island Sports League Coordinator will be the main person in charge on game-days at the game location. They are responsible for the overall coordination of all Brooklyn/Staten Island based New York Edge seasonal sports leagues (occurring on Saturdays) & tournaments (days vary), both in-person & virtually. They will provide ongoing support to all NYE sites within this borough. Support will be provided through both in-person & virtual site visits. The Brooklyn/Staten Island Sports League Coordinator is responsible for managing a cohort of sports league assistants on game days. This role will also be responsible for assisting in training staff for all leagues, as well as assisting with Sports & Wellness Department special events. This is a hybrid position. This position will work out of the NYE HQ in Woodside, NY as well as various Brooklyn/Staten Island based locations where leagues are located. Essential Job Functions: * Coordinate data gathered from the league registration process for all leagues & tournaments among NYE sites. * Assist in creating marketing materials related to leagues & tournaments. * Aid in securing permits for any/all event locations. * Use sports management software to coordinate, create & consistently update all league & tournament schedules, including but not limited to weekly standings. * Coordinate transportation for all participating sites, through creating weekly bus schedules. * Establish & maintain clear communication with all key parties, including but not limited to subcontractors, vendors, volunteers, parents, students and all NYE staff. * Support the review, review & establishment of rules, guidelines & procedures for participation in events. * Assist in ongoing in-person/virtual professional development for all sports league & tournament related staff, including but not limited to rules, guidelines & procedures. * Help to develop & design materials and/or resources related to sports leagues & tournaments. * Directly manage, support & develop a team of staff including sports league borough assistants. * Promote a positive culture & maintain a safe environment for all participants & attendees. * Conduct equipment assessments as needed. * Transport sports league related equipment & supplies to game & event locations. The Student Support Coordinator is a key member of the Youth Services team, providing comprehensive student and family supports within QCH’s K–8 After-School Programs and contributing to the organization’s strategic objectives. Position Overview The Student Support Coordinator supports children and families while building a foundation in social work and student services. This community-based role addresses the social-emotional and behavioral needs of youth enrolled in K–8 after-school programs. QCH offers mentorship, professional development, and exposure to community-based services, making this role ideal for professionals seeking growth and meaningful impact. Responsibilities * Develop and maintain an active caseload; provide counseling support through individual and group sessions for K–8 after-school students. * Build strong relationships with parents, teachers, and QCH staff to coordinate services, improve student behavior, address family needs, and increase family stability. * Coach and guide program staff by modeling effective behavior management strategies to strengthen youth engagement. * Contribute to program quality by identifying needs and implementing improvements, including supporting SEL curriculum development and staff training. * Establish and maintain partnerships with external service providers to connect youth and families to community resources. * Lead family engagement activities, including workshops promoting positive parenting practices. * Maintain accurate documentation and ensure compliance with QCH policies and all funder requirements. * Participate in program evaluation and continuous quality improvement initiatives. Qualifications Required: * Master’s degree in Social Work (MSW), Mental Health Counseling, or related field. Licensure and SIFI certification preferred. * Bachelor’s degree in Social Work (BSW) may be considered with a minimum of three (3) years of relevant experience. * Minimum of two (2) years’ experience working with youth and families in case management, family engagement, and behavioral support in a community-based setting. * Commitment to QCH’s mission and values. * Excellent communication, collaboration, and documentation skills. Preferred Skills: * Knowledge of youth development principles. * Experience in individual casework, group facilitation, activity management, and mediation. * Familiarity with family engagement models and strategies. * Ability to facilitate virtual counseling sessions and meetings. * Flexibility to work evenings and weekends for special programs/events. * Strong interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills. * Ability to maintain confidentiality and professional demeanor. * Comfort with data collection and using data to inform practice and track outcomes. * Proactive approach with strong problem-solving abilities. Each year, programs in academics, including STEM, the arts, sports and wellness, and college access, help 40,000 students develop leadership skills and succeed in school. SUMMARY New York Edge is seeking passionate and enthusiastic people to fill the role of Basketball Specialist. Basketball Specialists should have knowledge and experience providing targeted, skill, and age-appropriate instruction, coaching, and mentorship to youth in New York Edge’s after-school camp program. WORK SCHEDULE * 9-15 hours per week. * Monday through Friday -- 2:30 pm - 5:30 pm ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS * Motivate students to be active daily. * Ensure daily activity lesson plans and projects are structured, age-appropriate, and have clear learning goals based on the provided sports and physical activity guide. * Maintain communication with the Program Director and Center for Sports and Wellness regarding the calendar of programs, leagues, tournaments, and special events. * Motivate and encourage students to participate in organization-wide sports activities. * Establish and enforce safety rules for behavior and procedures for maintaining order among the students for whom they are responsible. * Instruct participants on the activities' principles, techniques, and safety procedures and show how to use materials and equipment properly. * Establish clear objectives for all lessons, units, and projects, and communicate those objectives to students. * Prepare facilities for group activities. * Evaluate activities to determine if they are producing the desired results. * Adapt teaching methods and instructional materials to meet students' needs and interests. * Promote and ensure the progressive development of student skills * Promotes positive character development in all youth * Most New York Edge Basketball Specialists are expected to provide support during Academic hours. * Adapt each activity to ensure safe participation in the space provided. REQUIRED SKILLS * Must be knowledgeable and skilled in basketball and have prior experience successfully teaching and instructing youth. * Must have knowledge and prior experience as a basketball specialist * Prior experience teaching and instructing youth preferred * Must be able to follow a curriculum * Must be responsible, reliable, and punctual! * Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are required. * May be required to walk up and down stairs. * May have to lift or move objects/materials as needed. * Work is performed mostly within a New York City Public School but may be required to interact with the community at-large during trips or events. QUALIFICATIONS * High School Diploma or Equivalent required; some college preferred * A minimum of one year of work-related skill, knowledge, or experience is required. * A minimum of one year of teaching experience is required. * Must have passion for New York Edge's mission and demonstrated interest in education and youth development. * Candidates qualified to lead instruction in more than one activity are also preferred. The Basketball Specialist will be required to report to the school building and interact with staff, students, parents, and school administration.
