Our client, a leading financial services organization, is looking to hire an Alternative Investment Fund Accountant for a 12-month W2 contract opportunity. Role Overview The Alternative Investment Fund Accountant will work as part of a team responsible for providing accounting, administration, and investor servicing for alternative investment funds, including hedge funds, private equity funds, and closed-end registered products. The role will be responsible for supporting fund accounting activities, calculating and reporting Net Asset Values (NAV), maintaining accurate investor and partnership records, and preparing financial, audit, and tax-related schedules. Key Responsibilities • Calculate Net Asset Value (NAV) and disseminate financial and performance information to investment advisors and investors., • Serve as the primary fund accountant for multiple fund relationships and ensure fund accounting activities are completed in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)., • Record trade information, income and expense activity, and apply appropriate valuation of securities within the portfolio accounting system., • Enter and reconcile investor contributions and withdrawals within the partnership accounting system., • Allocate fund-level profits to individual investors and assist with the preparation and distribution of investor statements., • Review and coordinate fund expense analysis and expense processing., • Prepare investor capital call and distribution schedules., • Prepare management fee and carried interest allocation schedules., • Prepare fund financial statements, audit schedules, and tax schedules., • Review relevant sections of Limited Partnership Agreements (LPAs) and ensure fund accounting activities align with the terms of the agreement., • Identify, research, and resolve accounting discrepancies and complex issues, escalating when appropriate., • Manage multiple fund accounting activities, projects, and deadlines simultaneously., • Collaborate effectively with internal teams, investment advisors, and other stakeholders. Basic Qualifications • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related field, or equivalent work experience., • 25 years of related accounting experience, preferably in portfolio, fund, or partnership accounting., • Strong understanding of accounting, financial reporting, and analysis., • Ability to identify and resolve complex accounting issues with minimal guidance., • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines., • Effective verbal and written communication skills., • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel. Preferred Qualifications • Experience with alternative investment, private equity, or hedge fund accounting., • Experience with portfolio or partnership accounting., • Experience calculating or reviewing NAV., • Experience with investor accounting, capital calls, distributions, management fees, or carried interest., • Experience reviewing or working with Limited Partnership Agreements (LPAs)., • CPA or CA preferred., • Experience with PCS Investran or similar fund/portfolio accounting platforms. Ideal Candidate Profile The ideal candidate will have direct experience in fund accounting, alternative investments, private equity, hedge funds, or partnership accounting, along with a strong foundation in accounting and financial reporting. Candidates with experience in NAV, investor allocations, capital calls, distributions, management fees, carried interest, and Investran are especially encouraged to apply.
