Position Summary The Director of People + Culture is responsible for supporting and managing core Human Resources and People + Culture functions across the organization. This role will oversee compliance, employee relations, compensation support, benefits administration, payroll partnership, talent acquisition, employee engagement, onboarding, performance management, policy administration, and workforce support. This individual will play an important role in ensuring operational consistency, supporting restaurant leaders, maintaining compliance, and helping create a positive and people-first work environment aligned with NAYA's mission and values. The ideal candidate is organized, dependable, people-focused, operationally strong, and comfortable balancing multiple priorities in a fast-paced restaurant environment. What You Will Do Restaurant Operations Partnership • Serve as a primary HR support partner for Restaurant Leadership teams, • Partner closely with Operations leaders to support restaurant staffing, employee relations, onboarding, compliance, and team member development, • Support new restaurant openings through hiring coordination, onboarding support, workforce planning assistance, and market pay research, • Help ensure restaurants are staffed appropriately while maintaining NAYA's culture and operational standards, • Provide guidance to restaurant leaders on performance management, documentation, attendance, policy interpretation, and workplace concerns Human Resources Operations & Compliance • Support compliance with all federal, state, and local labor and employment laws, • welcoming and engaging onboarding experience for new hires Performance Management & Team Member Development • Support performance management processes across the organization, • Assist leaders with performance conversations, documentation, and employee development discussions, • Help support internal growth opportunities and career pathing initiatives, • Partner with leaders to identify employee development opportunities and staffing needs HR Metrics & Reporting • Track and maintain HR and People + Culture metrics including turnover, retention, hiring activity, staffing levels, onboarding completion, and employee relations trends, • Support periodic reporting and workforce updates for Operations and HR leadership, • Help identify trends and opportunities for operational and employee experience improvements, • Maintain organized HR reporting and workforce data Employee Experience & Culture • Support initiatives that improve employee engagement, communication, and workplace culture, • Help reinforce NAYA's mission, values, and people-first culture across all locations, • Assist with employee recognition, engagement activities, and culture-building initiatives, • Support programs that enhance the team member experience and promote retention Qualifications • 5+ years of progressive Human Resources experience, • SHRM-SCP preferred, • SPHR strongly preferred, • Experience supporting multiple HR functions, • Experience in a growth company with 30+ units, • Strong knowledge of labor and employment law and HR best practices, • Direct experience with NYC Fair Work Week law strongly preferred, • Experience supporting organizations with 500+ employees preferred, • Strong background in employee relations, compliance, onboarding, recruiting, and HR operations, • Restaurant, hospitality, retail, or multi-unit experience strongly preferred, • Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills, • Ability to handle sensitive and confidential     Status: Non-Exempt Position: Full-time Location: In-person, Lower East Side/East Village, Manhattan Cooper Square Mutual Housing Association Management (“CSMHAM”) is a non-profit, low-income housing organization on the Lower East Side of Manhattan. We serve as the property manager to Cooper Square Mutual Housing II HDFC (“MHA II”), a residential cooperative made up of 21 buildings. Our primary mission is to manage and preserve the MHA II co-op so that it is permanently affordable for multiple generations of low-income residents. Our style of property management centers on resident engagement and community preservation. A key element to our unique and successful model is that residents who live in our housing also sit on our board of directors. Resident Relations Specialists are the primary point of contact between residents and their property management organization. The Resident Relations Specialist (RRS) works with residents and staff to identify and resolve a wide variety of issues including: · building and apt. maintenance issues, · building and apt. repair issues, · resident-involved issues that can impact the household or building, (clutter, unsanitary conditions, criminal activity, etc.) · non-payment issues, · conflicts between residents. The RRS conducts regular building meetings to get feedback from residents and share information. The RRS also conducts regular apartment and building-wide inspections to assess housing conditions and other issue that need to be addressed. This is a property management position that also involves activities typically associated with resident advocacy, social work and tenant organizing. The Resident Relations Specialists work closely with, and reports directly to, the Director Operations. This is an in-person, public facing position. Specific Responsibilities · Communicate with residents and address resident concerns. · Work with staff and residents to identify and correct housing conditions through an internal work order system. Address and track housing code violations as needed. · Work with staff and residents to address rent arrears issues. · Send late notices and house rules violation letters as needed. · Inspect apartments and buildings to identify conditions that impact residents’ quality of life. · Conduct resident wellness visits as needed. · Advertise, facilitate and attend resident building meetings. · Attend and participate in other community meetings and staff meetings. · Maintain orderly and accurate resident records and files. Front of House (FOH) Positions - Organized by Importance & Category I. Senior Management 1. General Manager (GM) • Responsibilities: Oversees all restaurant operations (FOH & BOH), P&L management, strategic planning, staff leadership, ensuring exceptional guest experiences and brand standards., • Experience: Extensive senior management experience in high-volume, upscale/fine dining required. 1. Assistant General Manager (AGM) • Responsibilities: Supports the GM in all aspects, manages daily FOH operations, staff scheduling and supervision, inventory control, guest relations resolution., • Experience: Strong FOH management experience in upscale dining required. 1. Marketing Director • Responsibilities: Develops and implements marketing strategies, manages brand communications, PR, advertising, social media oversight (must be proficient in major platforms like Instagram, TikTok, etc.), analyzes market trends. Must be familiar with the NYC F&B scene., • Experience: Proven marketing management experience, ideally within hospitality or luxury brands in NYC, required. II. Departmental Management & Specialists 1. Floor Manager • Responsibilities: Manages dining room service flow, supervises floor staff, ensures service standards are met, handles guest interactions and resolves issues during service., • Experience: FOH management or supervisory experience in a high-quality restaurant required. 1. Bar Manager • Responsibilities: Oversees all bar operations, beverage inventory management, ordering, cost control, develops cocktail menu, manages bar staff., • Experience: Bar management or extensive high-end bartending/supervisory experience required. 1. Expo Lead / Support Leader • Responsibilities: Responsible for ensuring cleanliness of the expo/pass area; ensuring timely and accurate food dispatch in correct sequence; coordinating Food Runner/Support staff; training new support team members., • Experience: Experience as an Expediter or Senior Food Runner preferred, with leadership potential. 1. Server (HIGH TIPS) • Responsibilities: Provides attentive and knowledgeable table service, explains menu items, takes orders accurately, ensures guest needs are met throughout their dining experience., • Experience: Fine dining server experience required; candidates with strong sales awareness and skills (e.g., able to perform upselling and product recommendations) are preferred. 1. Server Assistant • Responsibilities: Responsible for maintaining table cleanliness, assisting with resetting tables, providing water service, restocking service stations with supplies and cutlery, and other support tasks., • Experience: No specific experience required, but relevant F&B experience is a plus; attention to detail and service orientation are key. 1. Food Runner / Support • Responsibilities: Responsible for accurately and efficiently running food orders, assisting with clearing tables, and ensuring correct corresponding tableware is provided for different dishes. Support & Administration 1. Social Media Specialist • Responsibilities: Creates engaging content (photos, videos, copy), manages daily posting and community interaction on relevant platforms, assists with website updates., • Experience: Proven experience managing social media accounts for a business (preferably hospitality/lifestyle) required; basic web/design skills are a plus. Back of House (BOH) / Culinary Team Positions: 1. Executive Chef • Overall responsibility for kitchen operations, menu development, cost control, team management, and quality assurance. 1. Sous Chef • Assists Executive Chef in daily kitchen management. 1. Wok Chef • Expertise in various high-heat wok cooking techniques for assigned dishes. Experience required. 1. Head Butcher • Supervises all cutting, portioning, and initial preparation of ingredients (including 'Shui Tai' duties like cleaning/processing seafood, poultry, and vegetables), manages the cutting team, ensures consistency and quality. Experience required. 1. Butcher • Performs precise cutting, portioning, and preparation of various meats, seafood, poultry, and vegetables according to specifications. 1. Steamer Chef • Responsible for the preparation and quality control of stocks, broths, soups, and stews; manages the steaming station; potentially handles processing and storage of bulk ingredients. 1. Peking Duck Chef • Specialist in the entire process of preparing and roasting Peking Duck, managing dedicated ovens and equipment. Specific experience required. 1. Dessert Chef Responsible for the dessert menu execution, including preparation, plating, station management, and quality control. 9.Appetizer Chef • Prepares and plates all cold dishes, salads, and appetizers. 10.Kitchen Assistant / Plater • Primarily assists chefs with plating and presentation, ensures smooth transfer of dishes from stations to the pass; performs basic kitchen support tasks, assists with prep.
