Job Description Position Summary: A growing Health and Beauty Company is seeking a Formulation Chemist with past formulation experience related to health and personal care products. The primary purpose of the position is to formulate new products, create product documentation, prepare samples, coordinate R&D trials, support manufacturing operations, and provide training to other members of the R&D organization. The individual must engage with other departments including Quality, Regulatory Affairs, Sales, Manufacturing Operations, and Purchasing, to ensure procedures and specifications are set properly and can be met consistently. Responsibilities: ● The Formulation Chemist will create and validate new formulas and processes and will support company initiatives regarding efficiency and innovations. ● Develop new and improved formulations including toothpaste, oral care products, lotions, creams, aerosols, capsules, and other personal care and pharmaceutical products. ● Collaborate with process engineering and the Operations team to establish manufacturing specifications and process instructions. ● Responsible for the formula and process transfer from R&D to manufacturing. ● Research, evaluate, and approve raw materials for use in manufactured products. ● Generate and analyze data to validate finished goods and support new products. Monitor product test history and stability data. Ensure formulas are maintained and updated. ● Assess the impact of formula changes with respect to cost, specifications, and labeling. ● Manage multiple projects at one time. About the Role We’re seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Quality Control Chemist to join our team. Reporting to the Quality Control Supervisor, this role is responsible for testing raw materials, in-process products, and finished goods to ensure compliance with specifications and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP). You’ll play a critical role in maintaining our commitment to quality and regulatory excellence. Essential Functions • Conduct analytical testing of raw materials, in-process, and finished products using HPLC, GC, wet chemistry, FTNIR, Atomic Absorption, ICP, and other laboratory methods., • Manage and maintain independent verification testing programs with third-party laboratories., • Investigate Out of Specification (OOS) results and deviations; document corrective and preventive actions (CAPA)., • Develop and validate testing methods and specifications for raw materials and finished products., • Maintain and troubleshoot laboratory equipment, ensuring calibration and proper functioning., • Write and maintain SOPs related to laboratory procedures and quality testing., • Collaborate with R&D, Product Development, and Purchasing teams to ensure product and raw material compliance., • Maintain accurate testing records, calibration logs, and environmental monitoring data., • Support microbiological testing, inspections, and other QC functions as needed. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities • Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Biology, or related scientific discipline., • Minimum of 3 years of experience in a GMP-regulated laboratory environment., • Hands-on experience with analytical instrumentation (HPLC, GC, titrations, spectroscopy)., • Strong organizational and documentation skills with attention to detail., • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)., • Ability to lift up to 25 lbs and stand for extended periods during testing.
