We invite you to learn more about our company by visiting NMSLabs.com. Job Description: NMS Labs is hiring Forensic Chemists for our Willow Grove, PA location! The Forensic Chemist will perform chemical and analytical testing, including the isolation and identification of chemical substances in forensic casework samples. This person is responsible for specimen processing, test performance, reporting of test results, and the quality assurance and documentation of analytical processes. Major Duties Include: • Handling and sampling of forensic casework samples, • Maintaining the appropriate chain of custody of evidence, • Independently performing analysis of chemical substances utilizing chemical, microscopic, and instrumental methods to include GC/MS, • Generating, interpreting, reviewing, and releasing results, • Performing routine maintenance and basic troubleshooting of analytical instrumentation, • Providing expert testimony, • Performing and maintaining appropriate quality assurance and quality control procedures Education and Experience: Required: • A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree, • Degree must be in a chemical, physical, biological science, or forensic science from an accredited university, • Minimum of 16 semester credit hours in college-level chemistry coursework above General Chemistry, • MUST HAVE:, • Coursework and labs in General Chemistry, Organic Chemistry and Analytical (Instrumental) Chemistry, • 3 college-level semester credit hours in Statistics, • 6 months lab related experience, • ABC Certification Physical Demands: • Ability to talk, hear, stand, reach with hands and arms, and use hands and fingers to manipulate instrument/equipment controls, computer keyboards, office equipment, objects, or tools, • Moving from one work location to another to sit and stand, sometimes for extended periods of time, • Vision (with correction) including color, distance, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus, • Sitting and standing, sometimes for extended periods of time, • Lifting objects up to 20 lb, • Ability to travel, • Exposure to intermittent or constant sounds generated by equipment, • Exposure to fumes, noxious odors, and dust, • Handling of biological material and blood-borne pathogens, • Handling of toxic or caustic chemicals, • Proximity to moving parts To be considered for this position, please submit a cover letter, resume and official or unofficial transcripts and apply at Offers of employment are made contingent upon a nationwide background investigation and urine drug screen with results satisfactory to standards of employment at NMS.
