Job DescriptionPOSITION SUMMARYThe Quality Control Lab Technician is responsible for conducting chemical and physical analyses of raw materials, in-process samples, finished products and components to ensure compliance with specifications and regulatory requirements. Working closely with quality and production teams, this role ensures product reliability by delivering accurate and timely test results, maintaining thorough documentation, and assisting in problem-solving and root-cause analysis to support quality enhancement in manufacturing operations.SUMMARY OF ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES • Perform routine analytical testing of chemicals, components, and finished products using standardized methods (e.g., pH, Density, Viscosity, FTIR, Karl Fischer, Magna Mike, Pressure Testing etc.)., • Work closely with Quality Control Chemist and lab technicians to ensure all incoming materials are being tested within specifications according to Standard Operating Procedures and released in a timely manner., • Prepare, label, and maintain chemical blends and solutions., • Record and interpret test data, ensuring results meet specifications and promptly reporting any deviations or out-of-spec results., • Support investigations of non-conforming materials and assist in root cause analysis., • Maintain laboratory instruments, ensuring calibration, preventive maintenance, and troubleshooting as needed., • Participate in quality improvement initiatives and cross-functional projects as required., • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized laboratory environment., • Adhere to safety guidelines and company quality standards. Qualifications • Bachelor’s degree in chemistry or a related scientific field, • 1–3 years of laboratory or Quality Control experience preferred., • Familiarity with common analytical techniques and equipment (e.g., FTIR, pH, balances, viscometers)., • Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to follow Standard Operating Procedures accurately., • Good communication skills and ability to work effectively in a team environment., • Proficiency in Microsoft Office with familiarity in SharePoint and Dynamics is a plus. Work Environment • Laboratory setting within an automotive chemical manufacturing facility, working with raw materials, components, and finished chemical products (e.g., brake fluids, cleaners, lubricants, coatings)., • Frequent handling of chemicals including solvents, acids, bases, oils and specialty automotive formulations; proper use of Personal Protective Equipment (lab coats, safety shoes, safety glasses, gloves, face shields, respirators when necessary) is required., • Exposure to strong odors, vapors, and fumes; ventilation systems and fume hoods are in place for safe operation., • Regular interaction with production areas, warehouses, and quality assurance teams to collect samples and communicate results., • May require occasional overtime or weekend support., • Collaborative environment with cross-functional teams including R&D, production, packaging, and supply chain., • Requires standing for extended periods and handling of laboratory materials. LANGUAGE SKILLS Ability to read, analyze, and interpret specifications and analysis results. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from Quality Control Supervisor. The ability to speak Spanish fluently is a plus. MATHEMATICAL SKILLS Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as proportions, percentages, weight, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
