Job Duties & Essential Functions: Patient Interaction & Clinical Intake • Greet and communicate with patients and their families in a manner consistent with caring and respect., • Initiate patient evaluations by accurately documenting the chief complaint, history of present illness, review of systems, and all pertinent information., • Perform pre-exam testing, including visual acuity assessment (with pinhole and glare testing), confrontational visual fields, extraocular muscle testing, pupillary evaluation, tonometry, angle assessment, and dilation., • Conduct advanced diagnostic testing such as OCT, fundus photography, IOL Master, Pentacam, A-scan, B-scan, Wave Scan/Vario, keratometry, lensometry, and visual field testing., • Assist with in-office minor surgical procedures and laser treatments., • Complete prescription refill requests as authorized by the physician, ensuring proper documentation in the patient chart., • Track, document, and communicate laboratory results to physicians and patients promptly, ensuring accuracy and continuity of care., • Educate patients on the use of medications and provide pre- and post-operative instructions as directed by the physician., • Maintain and manage inventory of ophthalmic supplies, pharmaceuticals, and instruments., • Inspect and assist with the maintenance of clinical examination equipment, report damage, coordinate repairs, and request replacements as necessary., • Assist with cleaning surgical instruments in preparation for sterilization., • Properly shut down and clean diagnostic testing equipment as needed., • Open and close exam rooms daily, including cleaning equipment, charging devices, and securing instruments., • Assist with opening and closing the clinic as needed., • Follow all safety protocols and clinic procedures., • Monitor and respond to work emails; utilize shared tools such as Google Drive to stay informed throughout the workday., • Participate in training and educational opportunities, including webinars and in-service sessions, to remain current with best practices., • Perform additional duties as assigned or directed by the supervisor.
