Job DescriptionBuild the environments where safe surgeries begin Before a surgical light turns on or a sterilizer runs its first cycle, someone ensures clearances are right, utilities are in spec, and every bolt is tightened. As a Medical Equipment Installer with STERIS, that someone is you. A day in the life You arrive on site—often at a major hospital in Manhattan or a community facility on Long Island—meet with the customer, and coordinate timing with the Installation Project Manager. You confirm rough-in dimensions, utility locations, and pathway clearances through doorways, elevators, and corridors. You uncrate and assemble STERIS equipment, set or lift units into place, level and anchor, connect plumbing and electrical utilities, then test and verify operation. You capture service documentation electronically, wipe down surfaces, remove packing materials, and walk the client through the install—answering questions before you leave. Territory and travel • Primary coverage: NYC, Manhattan, most of Long Island, and Northern New Jersey as needed., • Frequent day trips using a company vehicle, plus periodic Monday–Friday trips with likely overnight stays., • Some weekend work may occur (not to exceed two weekends per month); hours flex based on customer schedules.
