Job DescriptionJob Title: Packer Job Description The Packer supports packaging operations in a food manufacturing environment by following Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) and all requirements outlined in the company’s HACCP plan for SQF compliance, sanitation, traceability, and quality standards. This role organizes inventory, prepares items for shipment, works collaboratively on a production line, stages packing materials and finished goods, operates packaging equipment, and maintains a clean and safe workstation while performing other related tasks assigned by leadership. Responsibilities • Follow all safety procedures and current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMPs) as outlined in the company’s Food Safety and Quality Programs., • Adhere to all requirements described in the company’s HACCP plan to support SQF compliance, sanitation, traceability, and quality standards., • Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary work area throughout the shift., • Operate and monitor packaging machinery in accordance with company procedures and safety guidelines., • Perform equipment setup, adjustments, and changeovers based on production schedules and product specifications., • Monitor the production process to ensure adherence to production guidelines and specifications., • Conduct regular quality checks on packaged goods to confirm they meet established standards., • Monitor packaging materials and supplies, and replenish them as needed to prevent production delays., • Report any food quality or food safety issues or concerns promptly to a supervisor., • Report any machine failures and clearly describe the frequency and type of failure to support maintenance and troubleshooting., • Organize inventory, stage packing materials, and prepare finished goods for shipment., • Ensure production equipment is properly stocked to support continuous production of various size bars., • Document production and quality information accurately for quality assurance and traceability purposes., • Perform visual inspections of products and packaging to identify defects or inconsistencies., • Work effectively on a production line and in cleanroom or controlled environments as required., • Clean and maintain the workstation and associated equipment according to sanitation and safety standards., • Collaborate with team members, communicate effectively, and support a positive, safe, and efficient work environment., • Perform other related duties as assigned to support production and packaging operations.Essential Skills, • Strong team player with the ability to collaborate effectively in a production environment., • Good communication skills; ability to understand and follow instructions clearly (bilingual skills are a plus)., • Willingness and ability to learn new tasks and adapt to changing production needs., • Flexibility with scheduling and the ability to work multiple shifts as needed., • Problem-solving skills to identify and report issues with equipment, quality, or processes., • Ability to exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally (medium work)., • Ability to stand for up to 8 hours and for sustained periods of time., • Ability to extend hands and arms in any direction to handle products and materials., • Ability to handle and pick up bars and apply pressure to objects using fingers and palms., • Ability to perceive sounds at normal speaking levels and receive detailed information through oral communication., • Sufficient visual ability to perform inspections involving small defects and to distinguish colors., • Ability to express and exchange ideas clearly through spoken word., • Ability to bend at the waist, and bend the body downwards and forwards by bending legs and spine., • Ability to move about on foot to accomplish tasks, including going up and down stairs., • Ability to work safely around moving mechanical parts such as conveyors., • Ability to work in a refrigerated environment.Additional Skills & Qualifications, • Experience in production, general labor, or packing roles in a manufacturing or food processing environment., • Experience operating or monitoring production and packaging equipment., • Familiarity with cleanroom or controlled-environment work practices., • Experience performing inspection and quality checks in a manufacturing setting., • Understanding of documentation practices for quality assurance and traceability., • Bilingual communication skills are considered an asset.Why Work Here? Work Environment This role operates in a food manufacturing facility that follows strict GMP guidelines and food safety standards. The typical schedule runs Monday through Friday from 2:00 p.m. to 10:30 p.m., with the need for flexibility to support multiple shifts as required. The environment includes refrigerated areas and exposure to moving mechanical parts such as conveyors. Team members work on production lines and may work in cleanroom or controlled environments, with strict hygiene requirements including no jewelry and no make-up. The position requires standing for most of the shift, frequent movement throughout the facility, climbing stairs, and handling products and materials in a fast-paced, safety-focused setting. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Piscataway, NJ. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $16.00 - $16.00/hr.
