    Daycare Teaching Assistant Hearts and Minds Daycare LLC – Jamaica, Queens, NY Hearts and Minds Daycare is seeking a dependable, energetic, and caring Teaching Assistant to join our early childhood education team. We serve children ages 2–5 and are looking for someone who enjoys working with young children and understands that a strong classroom requires active engagement, teamwork, consistency, and attention to daily routines. Responsibilities The Teaching Assistant will work alongside the classroom teacher to support the daily operation of the classroom. Responsibilities include: • Actively supervising and engaging with children throughout the day, • Supporting learning centers, small-group activities, circle time, art projects, and other classroom activities, • Assisting children during meals, transitions, toileting, handwashing, rest time, and other daily routines, • Helping prepare classroom materials and activities, • Maintaining a clean, safe, organized classroom, • Cleaning and resetting tables, learning centers, toys, and classroom materials throughout the day, • Supporting meal and snack setup and cleanup, • Assisting with arrival and dismissal procedures, • Completing assigned classroom and daily support tasks, • Following classroom schedules, center policies, and staff procedures, • Communicating professionally with teachers, administrators, children, and families, • Using positive, age-appropriate guidance and redirection techniques, • Supporting other classrooms or areas of the program when needed We Are Looking For Someone Who: • Is dependable and arrives to work on time, • Is warm, patient, and comfortable working with children ages 2–5, • Takes initiative and notices what needs to be done, • Can remain actively engaged with children rather than waiting to be directed throughout the day, • Works well as part of a team, • Can follow established routines and procedures, • Is comfortable with cleaning and classroom-maintenance responsibilities, • Is willing to receive coaching and professional feedback, • Communicates professionally and respectfully Qualifications • High school diploma or equivalent required, • Early childhood education coursework or experience preferred, • Previous daycare, preschool, childcare, camp, or classroom experience preferred, • Must be able to meet NYC childcare personnel requirements, • Must be willing to complete required trainings and clearances, • Ability to stand, bend, sit on the floor, lift classroom materials, and remain active throughout the workday Schedule Monday–Friday Part-time and full-time scheduling may be available based on program needs and candidate availability.     ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES The Bilingual Early Intervention ISC and OSC Service Coordinator’s responsibilities may include: • Serve as the primary Service Coordinator for assigned infants, toddlers, and families., • Explain the Early Intervention Program, service coordination process, family rights, procedural safeguards, and available services to families., • Communicate with families in their preferred language when qualified to do so., • Develop trusting, respectful, and family-centered relationships with parents and caregivers., • Assist families with navigating the Early Intervention system., • Coordinate and facilitate communication among families, evaluators, Early Intervention providers, Early Intervention Officials/Designees, and other professionals involved with the child., • Assist families with scheduling and coordinating multidisciplinary evaluations and other required appointments., • Participate in and coordinate IFSP meetings as required., • Assist families in identifying priorities, concerns, resources, and desired outcomes for their child and family., • Support the development, implementation, review, and amendment of the child’s IFSP., • Assist families with identifying available Early Intervention providers for authorized services., • Coordinate the initiation of authorized Early Intervention services., • Monitor whether services are being delivered in accordance with the child’s IFSP., • Follow up with families and providers regarding missed, delayed, interrupted, or unavailable services., • Identify barriers affecting service delivery and communicate concerns to the appropriate Early Intervention personnel., • Maintain ongoing contact with assigned families in accordance with program requirements and individual family needs., • Assist families with accessing community programs, healthcare resources, social services, educational resources, and other supports when appropriate., • Advocate for family participation and informed decision-making throughout the Early Intervention process., • Support transition planning as children approach age three and prepare to transition from the Early Intervention Program., • Collaborate with families regarding potential transition to preschool special education or other appropriate community services., • Complete all required case notes, service coordination documentation, contact logs, IFSP-related documentation, and other records accurately and within required timeframes., • Maintain accurate and current information within required Early Intervention systems., • Maintain confidentiality of child and family information in accordance with applicable federal and New York State requirements and Angel Community Alliance policies., • Participate in required orientation, training, supervision, quality-assurance activities, and professional-development activities., • Follow all applicable New York State Early Intervention Program requirements, policies, procedures, and ethical standards., • Bilingual Service Coordinators may be responsible for:, • Communicating directly with families in both English and their qualified second language., • Explaining Early Intervention processes and requirements in a manner families can understand., • Supporting culturally and linguistically responsive communication., • Helping reduce language-related barriers to participation in Early Intervention services., • Communicating effectively with bilingual families while maintaining professional boundaries and confidentiality., • Utilizing approved interpretation and translation resources when circumstances require services beyond the Service Coordinator’s language competency or role. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Candidates must meet applicable New York State Early Intervention Program requirements for Service Coordinators and Angel Community Alliance credentialing requirements. Preferred qualifications include: • Bachelor’s degree or higher in psychology, social work, human services, early childhood education, special education, sociology, counseling, family studies, behavioral science, or a related field., • Experience working with infants, toddlers, children, or families., • Experience with children with developmental delays or disabilities., • Knowledge of Early Intervention, developmental disabilities, special education, Medicaid-funded programs, or community-based services., • Experience with case management or service coordination., • Strong written and verbal communication skills., • Strong organizational and time-management abilities., • Ability to manage multiple cases, deadlines, appointments, and documentation requirements., • Ability to communicate professionally with families, providers, government representatives, and other professionals., • Ability to work independently while remaining responsive to supervision and agency requirements., • Ability to maintain accurate, timely, and confidential records. Spanish-speaking candidates are highly preferred. Additional languages commonly spoken by families throughout New York City are also welcomed.
