Job DescriptionSalary: $22.00 to $25.00 POSITION SUMMARY The overriding goal of this position is to support the CEOs goals in safety, culture, communication, production, and profit. The Maintenance Mechanic II ensures the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of a large warehouse/repack facility by performing skilled maintenance and repair work across multiple trades, including HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and mechanical. This position inspects, troubleshoots, and repairs facility and production equipment (with on-site training provided for repack machinery), reads and interprets schematics and technical documents, and uses appropriate hand tools and PPE while following all safety, food safety, and company standards. The role requires a skilled, coachable mechanic with a strong multi-trade background in large warehouse/repack environments, the ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions, a solid understanding of occupational hazards and safety precautions, and the ability to step into a team leader role when situations require. English fluency is required; bilingual fluency in Spanish is highly desirable to support effective communication with a diverse workforce. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Equipment Maintenance & Repair • Perform maintenance and repair on machinery and mechanical equipment, including, but not limited to, conveyors, motors, pumps, compressors, fans, valves, refrigeration units, auxiliary diesel generators, and related equipment., • Inspect, diagnose, and troubleshoot malfunctioning equipment; determine root cause and implement safe, effective corrective actions., • Perform routine HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and mechanical tasks within skill level (e.g., filter and belt changes, basic control checks, minor leak repairs, simple electrical component replacement, and troubleshooting)., • Apply basic knowledge of all four trade categories while remaining open and coachable to additional training and upskilling as needed., • Follow all company safety policies, lockout/tagout (LOTO) procedures, and PPE requirements; understand and apply basic occupational hazards and safety precautions (e.g., eye protection while grinding, proper lifting, guarding)., • Support facility food safety and sanitation programs by maintaining clean, organized work areas and properly handling tools, parts, and materials in production and cold storage spaces., • Accurately complete work orders, preventive maintenance (PM) records, parts usage logs, and other documentation in the systems used by the company (e.g., CMMS, shared documents)., • Communicate clearly with the Facility & Maintenance Manager, supervisors, and operations teams regarding work status, equipment condition, and potential impact on production or safety., • utilize computerized controls and diagnostic tools as required to support maintenance, troubleshooting, and system monitoring. Team Leadership & Collaboration • Provide informal guidance and support to other mechanics and workers; act as a team leader during projects, breakdowns, or special assignments when directed., • Collaborate closely with warehouse, production, quality, and other departments to prioritize work, minimize downtime, and support production and shipping schedules., • Model company Core Values in daily work, contributing to a positive, respectful, and problem-solving culture in Maintenance and across the facility. GOALS & KPIs • Safety Maintain a record of 0 recordable safety incidents and achieve 100% compliance with PPE, lockout/tagout, and maintenance safety procedures while consistently identifying and addressing unsafe conditions., • Communication Provide clear, timely updates on work orders, equipment condition, and downtime risks to Maintenance leadership and operations so that no avoidable disruptions occur due to lack of information from maintenance., • Culture Demonstrate the companys Core Values by working respectfully with others, supporting training and mentoring of less experienced team members, and reinforcing a strong safety and food-safety culture in the facility., • Production Complete preventive maintenance and corrective repairs on schedule and with high quality so that key equipment meets targeted uptime and production lines achieve 100% of planned throughput without maintenance related delays., • Profit Use parts, labor, and contractor resources efficiently, reducing repeat breakdowns and unplanned downtime, and contributing to year-over-year improvement in maintenance cost per case handled. EXPERIENCE & EDUCATION • High school diploma or GED, or equivalent work experience., • Minimum of 3 years of maintenance experience in a large warehouse, repack, manufacturing, food/produce, or similar industrial environment., • Demonstrated hands-on experience with mechanical systems and basic working knowledge in HVAC, plumbing, and electrical trades., • 4 or more years of related maintenance experience, or an equivalent combination of education and maintenance/repack experience., • Experience in fresh produce, cold storage, or food processing facilities., • Prior experience acting as a lead or informal team leader on maintenance tasks or projects., • Bilingual English/Spanish fluency.
