Job Description Overview The Upper School and Athletics Liaison is a mission-critical role that supports the academic, cultural, and developmental priorities of the Upper School through intentional integration of athletics, academics, and enrollment work. Reporting to the Athletic Director and working in close partnership with the Upper School Principal and Director of Enrollment Management, this position ensures that athletic programming reinforces the School’s academic expectations, mission, and commitment to student well-being, while also supporting recruitment, retention, and community engagement. This role serves as a connector—bridging Athletics, Upper School leadership, faculty, College Counseling, Student Support Services, and Admissions—to promote coherence, clarity, and shared responsibility for student success. The ideal candidate understands athletics as an extension of the educational mission and is skilled at aligning systems, expectations, and communication across departments. Core Responsibilities * Support the daily operations of Upper School athletics in ways that reinforce academic expectations, community norms, and student well-being. * Work with athletics, arts, and academics to ensure logistical planning and execution of interscholastic contests with attention to safety, supervision, and scheduling. * Coordinate communication between constituents to ensure smooth, predictable, and well-managed athletic experiences. * Partner with the Athletic Director and Associate Athletic Director on Upper School–focused events, including Senior Nights, College Signing Day, awards programs, and community-facing initiatives. * Serve as the primary academic liaison between Upper School leadership and the Athletic Department, ensuring alignment between academic workload, athletic commitments, and student health. * Act as an Athletic Academic Advisor, proactively supporting student-athletes through collaboration with faculty, advisors, counselors, and learning specialists. * Monitor academic progress and eligibility of student-athletes, escalating concerns thoughtfully and early in partnership with the Upper School Principal. * Promote a culture of balance, integrity, accountability, and time management consistent with Upper School expectations. * Partner with the Athletic Directors and Upper School Principal to foster and encourage faculty and staff support. * Advise a cohort of Upper School students and teach one credited Upper School elective each year, reinforcing the role’s grounding in the academic life of the division. * Work closely with the Admissions Office to support enrollment goals in ways that are aligned with the Upper School’s academic standards and student profile. * Serve as a visible and informed representative of the Upper School in admissions events, outreach, and yield efforts, particularly as they relate to athletics. * Collaborate with Admissions and Upper School leadership to ensure clarity and consistency in messaging about expectations, balance, and the student experience. Qualifications & Professional Profile * Minimum of five years of experience in athletics, education, or a related field. * Bachelor’s degree required. * Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage competing priorities with sound judgment. * Excellent communication and relationship-building skills across students, faculty, families, and administrators. * Demonstrated commitment to student development, academic integrity, and inclusive community values. * Flexibility to work evenings and weekends as required by the Upper School calendar. * Meets on a regular basis with Athletic Director and Upper School Principal * Performs other duties as required. * Leadership of after-school activities (in athletics, the arts, or other programs) encouraged. * 12-Month, Full-Time Position | Start Date: July 2026 * Faculty and staff commit to eight-hour workdays as well as attendance at faculty meetings and other school-wide meetings and events. * Professional days are considered workdays and participation in planned activities is mandatory. * Salaries are based on experience.
