    POSITION OVERVIEW: Oversee, lead, administer and manage all aspects of the food service, kitchen, supervise kitchen staff, oversee menus, all related purchasing, preparation, cooking, etc. RESPONSIBILITIES: • Abide by Department of Health (DOH), and the Department for the Aging (DFTA) regulations regarding proper kitchen hygiene and maintenance., • Responsible for people management to include, but not limited to, recruitment, hiring, termination, review process, and management of kitchen staff., • Lead and manage the kitchen team or other workers in the preparation, cooking, garnishing, or presentation of food., • Supervise full-time and part-time kitchen staff and kitchen/meal service volunteers., • Manage and oversee the schedules and work of kitchen staff and volunteers., • Recruit, train, supervise and manage dining room volunteers., • Oversee proper functioning and cleaning of kitchen, equipment and dining areas, and maintain and monitor all sanitation, food preparation and temperature standards., • Plan menus for review by Center Director. Submit menus to Simple Servings., • Coordinate with DFTA Nutritionist regarding changes in menus and adherence to nutritional requirements., • Develop specifications for the purchase of food, equipment and supplies., • Purchase and safeguard food, supplies and equipment; supervise receiving, weighing and storage of food., • Maintain food cost control through careful purchasing, recordkeeping and inventory control., • Keep up to date daily and monthly food cost records., • Supervise safe handling and proper temperature control of prepared foods, keep appropriate records., • Provide on the job training for kitchen personnel and volunteers., • Maintain temperature logs., • Coordinate all outside vendors and distributors. POSITION TYPE / EXPECTED HOURS OF WORK: • Non-exempt, 35 hours per week; up to 5 additional paid weekly hours available., • Monday- Friday (subject to change). COMPENSATION: • $55,000 per year; paid hourly at $30.22 per hour., • Generous Paid Time Off (PTO) and competitive benefits package: Health Insurance; Retirement Plan, Optional 403b Plan, Life Insurance, Flexible Spending Account, Commuter Benefit Plan, and Y Fitness Center Membership. REQUIREMENTS: • Minimum of two years’ experience in food service administration., • High School Diploma or Equivalent, • Valid Food Protection Certificate., • Knowledge of kosher regulations., • Experienced in designing, planning, and implementing needs for nutrition programs., • Proficiency in modern business communications including personal computers, electronic mail and voicemail., • Proficiency in the safe operation of all kitchen equipment and Department of Health regulations.     MARC Academy and Department of Education (DOE) view family childcare as a respected and valued profession within the early care and education system in New York City. We seek to support and enhance the existing strengths of family childcare as birth-4 programs that promote continuous and responsive relationships, strengthen early learning skills, build resilience, and lay the foundation for all future learning. The primary role of the Education Specialist/Coach is to build strengths-based relationships with affiliated providers to support them as needed and, in particular, with implementing high quality play-based instruction. Responsibilities: ● Collaborate with the FCC Education Director, FCC Family Support Worker, and FCC Monitors to meet the needs of all children and families. ● Provide twice monthly strength-based practice-based coaching to a cohort of affiliated providers as they implement a mixed-age curriculum. ● Adapt and provide guidance to affiliated providers on the implementation of an evidence-based curriculum for mixed-age group settings that meets the individual needs of all children. ● Review and adapt appropriate curriculum supports and documents with affiliated providers that foster hands-on developmentally appropriate and relationship-based interactions with all children. ● Assist affiliated providers gathering observations of children and entering child assessment data in a timely manner and support its use for curriculum and lesson planning. ● Document all coaching sessions aligned with the DOE’s Early Childhood Framework for Quality (EFQ). ● Assist in ongoing outreach, enrollment, and all other administrative tasks. ● Support FCC Education Director in coordinating all required professional learning days –ongoing. ● Maintain relationships with community partners who provide mental health, special needs, and other support services for all affiliated providers and families. ● Create and regularly update Community Partner Resource Guide within FCC Network. ● Participate in twice-monthly FCC Network staff meetings to connect about individual providers, families, and coordinate all services. ● Participate in Network staff professional learning sessions delivered. ● Other tasks as assigned by FCC Education Director/FCC Director. ● Travel within FCC Network catchment area is REQUIRED Skills: ● Time management skills are essential * Ability to multitask *Must be a team player * Must be flexible with changing schedules and priorities. *Skilled Communicator * Appreciation for the unique needs of all providers and families. Education/Certifications: BA/BS/AAS/CDA preferred. Strong written and oral communication skills. Displays effective time management and multi-tasking skills.
