Job Description Job Description CDL Truck Driver Department: Maintenance Reports To: Shift Supervisor FLSA Status: Non-Exempt Worker Category: FT, Tmp, or Season We are seeking a CDL Truck Driver to join our team at Plainsman Company, LLC., a leading cotton-seed oil mill. The ideal candidate will be responsible for transporting cottonseed and cottonseed oil products to and from the mill, ensuring safe, efficient, and timely deliveries. The driver will play a key role in maintaining our supply chain operations while upholding safety standards and company policies. This position will consist of local travel within a 10-mile radius frequently with potential travel of 100+ miles during high demand or special projects. Key Responsibilities: • Transportation & Delivery:, • Safely transport cottonseed, cottonseed oil, and other raw materials to and from the mill., • Operate a company truck (Class A CDL required) to deliver products to customers, warehouses, and other designated locations., • Inspect vehicles before and after trips, checking for mechanical issues and ensuring vehicles are roadworthy., • Maintain accurate delivery logs, record time spent on each trip and adhere to delivery schedules., • Safety & Compliance:, • Follow all federal and state regulations regarding road safety, weight limits, and equipment., • Ensure compliance with all Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations, including daily vehicle inspections and record-keeping., • Safely load and unload products, ensuring proper handling of cottonseed oil and other materials to avoid spills, damage, or contamination., • Ensure that all safety procedures are followed during loading, transport, and unloading., • Customer Service:, • Provide excellent customer service when interacting with clients, vendors, or other partners., • Resolve any issues that may arise during delivery or while handling goods., • Maintenance & Reporting:, • Perform basic truck maintenance and report any mechanical issues or needed repairs to the Transportation Manager., • Ensure proper cleaning of the truck and equipment after each trip., • Record Keeping:, • Complete all necessary paperwork including delivery receipts, mileage logs, and safety checklists., • Education/Experience:, • High school diploma or equivalent., • Minimum of 2 years of experience driving a Class A CDL truck, preferably in an industrial or agricultural environment., • Experience with transporting bulk goods is preferred., • Licensing/Certification:, • Valid Class A Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) required., • Ability to pass DOT physical and drug test., • Clean driving record with no major traffic violations or accidents in the last 5 years., • Skills/Abilities:, • Strong understanding of DOT regulations and safety standards., • Ability to operate and maintain large trucks, including performing basic maintenance., • Good communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with customers and team members., • Excellent time management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet delivery deadlines., • Physical Requirements:, • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and assist in loading and unloading cargo., • Ability to sit for long periods and operate a vehicle for extended hours. EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE: Less than high school education; or up to one month experience or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information one-on-one and in small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization. MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to add and subtract two-digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10’s and 100’s. Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance. REASONING ABILITY: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations. CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS: CLASS A Driver’s license preferred. Optional Tanker’s endorsement.
