Job DescriptionExecutive Director YWCA of Binghamton and Broome County For the first time in over 25 years, the YWCA of Binghamton and Broome County is conducting a search for its next Executive Director. The Executive Director (ED) serves as the Chief Executive Officer of the YWCA of Binghamton and Broome County, providing visionary leadership and strategic direction to advance the organization's mission. They oversee all operational, fiscal, and programmatic functions of the YWCA, ensuring they are aligned with community needs. The ED reports to the Board of Directors and works closely with staff, volunteers, and the community to drive forward the mission of racial justice, women's empowerment, and social change. Key Responsibilities of the Executive DirectorOperational and Program Management • Oversee the Intergenerational Campus project, ensuring successful implementation and community impact. This transformative project will deliver 68 units of low-income rental housing for families, with a significant focus on providing 38 units specifically reserved for survivors of domestic violence.This strategic expansion will elevate the YWCA’s permanent housing program units from 205 to an impressive 310., • Oversee the development, implementation, and evaluation of YWCA programs, including housing services, childcare, youth services, and health programs., • Manage the YWCA’s budget and ensure that programs are delivered effectively, meet community needs, and comply with all relevant regulations and standards. Strategic Leadership and Mission Advancement, • Collaborate with the Board of Directors to develop and implement the YWCA's strategic plan, ensuring alignment with the mission and community needs., • Lead the organization in identifying and addressing the needs of women, girls, and marginalized communities through innovative programs and services., • Lead fundraising efforts, including grant writing, donor cultivation, and special events. Secure resources for operations, capital projects, and long-term sustainability., • Recruit, train, and supervise staff, fostering a positive, inclusive, and productive work environment., • Implement professional development opportunities and retention strategies to enhance staff skills and morale., • Build and maintain strong relationships with community partners, government agencies, and funding sources., • Work with local agencies to address community needs and expand the YWCA’s impact., • Engage in public speaking and advocacy around issues of racial justice, gender equality, and women's empowerment. Qualifications • Bachelor's degree required; Master's degree preferred in human services, social work, women's studies, public administration, business, education, or a related field., • Minimum of ten years of overall administrative experience, with significant time spent within nonprofit organizations., • Prior experience with financial management, fundraising, and organizational leadership., • Experience in personnel management, including staff recruitment, selection, and supervision., • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines., • Ability to relate to people of all ages, races, and socio-economic backgrounds., • Excellent oral and written communication skills., • Commitment to the YWCA’s mission and values. More about the YWCA of Binghamton and Broome County Key Programs and Impact Supportive Housing We provide clean, safe apartments for homeless or formerly homeless women and their children, giving them the stability and support needed for recovery and independence. Over 500 women have found stability and empowerment through our supportive housing programs. • Southside Manor Emergency Shelter: Our shelter offers 66 beds and is open 365 days a year, providing emergency shelter and support to women escaping domestic violence and facing homelessness., • Journey Program: Offers 40 apartments for transitional/permanent housing for women with a history of domestic violence. We provide case management, financial rental assistance, job training, childcare, and access to recovery services., • Street Outreach Program: This program covers six counties, engaging unsheltered homeless individuals and connecting them with housing services and recovery programs., • Endicott Square: YWCA supports 15 homeless families at this affordable housing facility, providing them with intensive case management, job training, childcare, and linkage to mental health services. Racial Justice Our mission to eliminate racism is integrated into all our programs, services, and community relations. Through our Employee Racial Justice Education Program, we empower staff to advocate for racial justice and understand how systemic racism impacts individuals and communities. The Bridge Program Focuses on supporting mothers in recovery who have given birth to babies affected by opioid addiction. Rapid Rehousing Program This program assists homeless individuals and families in Broome County with rental assistance, financial support, and other services to transition into safe, permanent housing. Young Wonders Early Childhood Center This program provides a loving, secure, and enriching environment for children and families, earning a 4-star quality rating from Quality Stars NY. We believe in fostering children's self-worth and supporting families with year-round care. ENCOREplus This health program has helped thousands of women receive life-saving mammograms and breast health education. Last year alone, 30 women were able to catch cancer early, providing them with the best chance for successful treatment. The program also removed transportation barriers for 78 women in rural areas by providing free transportation and childcare services. Future Vision A new Intergenerational Campus will soon offer 68 units of affordable housing, with a focus on families in need of long-term support services. The campus will also include a state-of-the-art childcare center and a community service center, further extending our reach and impact. Compensation For this position we offer a salary range up to $122,000 and offer a full range of benefits including: health, dental, and a retirement plan with employer contribution after two years.
