Job Description Billing Director Interpace Biosciences is seeking a highly organized, mature, and self-motivated Billing Director with strong knowledge of laboratory billing. Responsibilities would include managing a billing team, implementing, and managing billing processes, ent ering and coding laboratory services, handling insurance claims, completing prior authorizations, and maintaining spreadsheets and paperwork. The ideal candidate can work on multiple projects at once, effectively prioritize business needs, and has the interpersonal skills to communicate with employees, peers, clients, and insurance companies professionally. Key Responsibilities • Planning, organizing, and managing the billing operation and assisting in executing the strategic direction as set forth by senior leadership, • Critical responsibilities include management of staff to achieve monthly, quarterly, or annual goals of revenue cycle performance and cash collections, • Monitor and update staff on Medical Policy changes specific to IDXG test offering, • Manage and work closely with XIFIN to maximize claim processing and denial resolution, • Provides hands-on supervision of daily activities and workflows of the billing and follow-up team to achieve optimal area performance and colleague productivity goals as part of the revenue cycle process, • Monitors timeliness of claims billed, paid/settled, and reviews documentation in appropriate system(s), • Collaborating and managing workflow with external billing partner(s) to ensure collection performance and accurate and timely reporting, • Ensures colleagues carry out duties and responsibilities in an effective manner, which in turn promotes maximized reimbursement based upon services delivered, • Identifies and implements solutions to problems and issues affecting accurate billing and follow-up activities, • Focuses efforts of colleagues on proactive practices, which includes contacting payors directly for payments due on accounts and reviewing and responding to all correspondence (electronic and hard copy) in a timely and efficient manner, • Identifies and participates in continuous quality improvement initiatives across the billing and follow-up team and other functional areas to streamline processes, • Maintains a working knowledge of applicable Federal, State, and local laws and regulations, IDXG’s Code of Conduct, and other policies and procedures to ensure adherence in a manner that reflects honest, ethical, and professional behavior, • Proactively evaluates and develops internal capabilities to ensure operational excellence, team engagement, and customer satisfaction QUALIFICATIONS • Minimum of 5 – 7 years direct experience in revenue management, specifically in a medical and/or clinical laboratory setting, • Knowledge of medical reimbursement as it relates to the diagnostics space including compliance, OIG regulations and insurance industry practices, • Hands-on experience with medical billing software and systems, and workflow management., • Ability to partner cross-functionally with Lab Operations, Sales, Compliance/Quality, Finance, and IT teams, • Exhibits supervisory and leadership skills that emphasize team building and collaboration, with the ability to provide clear oversight of department services, while also functioning as an individual contributor, • Ability to communicate effectively with payors and work with all levels of colleagues to expedite revenue cycle processes while supporting client service needs, • Effective critical thinking and problem-solving skills, • Ability to analyze data and prepare related reports and summaries EDUCATION AND SKILLS • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited institution, • Advanced degree and/or relevant certification (e.g., CPA, MBA) highly desired, • Certification or training in CRM and/or billing software systems a plus
