Job Summary: \t • The staff Occupational Therapist is responsible for evaluating and treating patients and facilitating rehabilitation and independence.\t, • S/he develops and designs treatment plans for physically, mentally and/or emotionally disabled patients.\t, • The Occupational Therapist enables, enhances and improves patients ability to gain independent, productive daily living and working environments.\t, • Essential Duties and Responsibilities\t, • Plan, organize, and conduct occupational therapy programs in hospital settings to help rehabilitate those impaired because of illness, injury or psychological or developmental problems.\t, • Evaluates and establishes patients' physical and mental learning abilities and analyze medical data to determine realistic attainable rehabilitation goals within scope of patient's disability.\t, • Selects educational, recreational and social activities that will help individuals learn work and life-management skills within limits of their mental and physical capabilities.\t, • Evaluates patients' progress and prepare reports that detail progress.\t, • Documents therapy activities and maintains necessary records in patient files, assist in the evaluations and rehabilitation of assigned patient's medical/psychiatric conditions by conferring with social worker, nurses and other disciplines.\t, • Trains and educates caregivers how to provide for the needs of the patients during and after therapy.\t, • Recommends changes in patients' work or living environments that is consistent with their needs and capabilities.\t, • Develops and participate in health promotion programs, group activities, or discussions to promote client health, facilitate social adjustment, alleviate stress, and prevent physical or mental disability.\t, • Consult with rehabilitation team to select activity programs and coordinate occupational therapy with other therapeutic activities such as vocational rehabilitation or social services based on psychological, physical or vocational needs.\t, • Plan and implement programs and social activities to help patients learn work and school skills and adjust to handicaps\t, • Attends clinic on biweekly basis to assist physicians with evaluation and treatment of clinic patients.\t, • Corresponds with insurance companies to gain approval of adaptive equipment.\t, • NYS active Occupational Therapy licensure\t, • National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy (NBCOT) preferred\t, • 0-2 years experience as Occupational Therapist\t, • Knowledge of principles, methods, and procedures for diagnosis, treatment, and rehabilitation of physical and mental dysfunctions, and for career counseling and guidance.\t Founded in 2015, HonorVet Technologies stands as a Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned Small Business (SDVOSB), proudly certified by NaVOBA and the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs.
