Job Description Responsible for performing routine building maintenance tasks, including, but not limited to, general cleaning, floor maintenance, and security. PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: • Performs a variety of work in the maintenance and repair of buildings and grounds at all locations within the network, including, but not limited to painting, plastering, and floor maintenance., • Maintains exterior and interior of sites free of any debris, including, but not limited to snow, leaves, boxes, and garbage., • Clean rooms, hallways, lobbies, lounges, rest rooms, corridors, stairways, parking lots, water fountains, and other work areas., • Repairs and treats structures such as floors, sinks, walls, roofs, and carpets., • Performs minor troubleshooting, repairs, and adjustments of locks on doors, cabinets, and desks., • Remove and maintain separation of general waste, recycling, and medical waste in the appropriate areas., • HVAC – change filters when necessary., • Report mechanical malfunctions to the appropriate party for action., • Moves and assists in moving furniture and equipment at various sites within the network., • Identifies projects requiring the services of a higher-skilled crafts person., • Maintains logs and appropriate documentation for repairs, waste management, building alarms, fire extinguishers, and maintenance., • As part of Emergency Management, manage emergencies as indicated within the Emergency Preparedness Manual., • Activates/Deactivates building alarms, including opening and closing of gates., • Monitor and serve as security at network sites to maintain a safe environment for staff, patients, and visitors., • Occasional driving of company vehicle., • Other duties as assigned. KNOWLEDGE, EDUCATION, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED: • Experience using hand and electrical tools., • Ability to read technical manuals and drawings., • Very good communication and interpersonal skills., • Physical stamina and dexterity., • High school diploma or equivalent., • Proven maintenance experience., • Highschool Diploma/GED; Related degree from a technical college., • Skilled in the use of hand and power tools., • Ability to use common tools such as hammers, hoists, saws, drills, and wrenches., • Experience with precision measuring instruments or electronic testing devices., • Experience performing routine maintenance., • Strong organizational and follow-up skills., • Eye for detail., • Professional presentation and attitude., • Ability to maintain focus while working individually., • Strong time management skills. WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL EFFORTS REQUIRED: • Work under clinical conditions, which involve exposure to blood and organic substances which are demonstrated biohazards., • Incumbents are required to wear requisite protective equipment during specimen handling/processing., • Work includes prolonged standing, as well as moderate lifting, carrying, reaching, stooping, pulling, and pushing activities, manual dexterity, clear speech, and visual hearing acuity.Company DescriptionAt Betances Health Center (Betances) we foster a welcoming and family-centered organization full of empathy, courtesy and respect.
