SMC is actively looking for an Entry Level BIM Coordinator to support modeling, documentation, and coordination efforts on mission critical projects. Typical project types may include design of greenfield and brownfield data center facilities, tenant fit-outs for hyperscale and enterprise clients, campus planning, conceptual design studies, and construction coordination. This candidate will execute specific BIM and CAD tasks as part of a broader project delivery team while developing their own technical skills. The candidate will typically work under the guidance of senior and/or mid-level BIM managers and discipline engineering leads. The BIM scope will integrate multiple disciplines (electrical, mechanical, telecommunications, fire protection, plumbing, security), as well as external consultants (architectural, civil, structural). The ideal candidate has a strong work ethic, is eager to learn, and wants to grow their expertise and career at as rapid a pace as suits them. This position is open to full time, part time, and internship/co-op applicants. Internship and co-op candidates should be able to work full time (at least 30 hours per week) for a total period of at least 400 hours. RESPONSIBILITIES This candidate will have the opportunity to execute specific BIM production tasks for various project types while working and coordinating with clients and design leads from all disciplines. They should be comfortable communicating effectively with co-workers and clients while meeting scheduled project deadlines. They will be a self-starter, eager to problem-solve and perform independent research in addition to assigned project work in order to further their career growth. Responsibilities include but are not limited to: • Assist in the development of Revit models and drawing sets for mission critical facilities., • Support project teams in coordinating models across disciplines., • Apply client standards, design criteria, and BIM execution plans under the guidance of senior staff., • Learn and understand model management practices, file structures, and data handoff requirements., • Gain exposure to construction documents and specifications to develop a broader understanding of the design-to-construction process., • Utilize Autodesk Revit and Autodesk Construction Cloud (ACC) on a daily basis to produce detailed deliverables., • Support clash detection and model review processes., • Assist in setting up views, sheets, and standard details to align with project requirements., • Use Microsoft tools such as Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Teams., • Meet project deadlines, including working necessary hours to complete major deliverables., • Have the ability to travel when required to project sites and/or meetings (less than 10% travel)., • Clearly communicate with others in both written and spoken forms., • Be willing to take direction from senior BIM managers, engineers, and designers in order to execute delivery of specific project elements., • Actively participate in training and mentoring opportunities to grow knowledge and capabilities., • Maintain excellent organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously. QUALIFICATIONS • 2- or 4-year degree in engineering technology, architecture, construction management, or related field preferred. A drafting or CAD/BIM certification will also be considered., • Past internship, co-op, or work experience in an engineering or construction environment is a plus., • Familiarity with the AEC industry and construction documentation is a plus., • Experience using Autodesk Revit in either an educational or professional context is preferred., • Knowledge of Navisworks or ACC is a plus. COMPENSATION Base Compensation (Full Time): $45,000-$90,000 (Actual compensation is subject to variation due to factors such as education, experience, skills, and/or location) SMC offers a competitive benefits package, with a 36-hour standard work week, hybrid working arrangement, 13 paid holidays, 100% coverage of medical, health, and dental insurance premiums for our full-time employees, and reimbursement of professional licensing costs. Base Compensation (Intern/Co-Op): $25-30/hr. Intern and co-op positions are considered temporary and are eligible for statutory benefits only.
