Job Description POSITION: Assistant Director of Campus Safety REPORTS TO: Director of Public Safety STATUS: Full-time, Exempt RANGE: $75,000 - $85,000 Founded in 1901, Brooklyn Law School is a distinguished, independent law school located in Downtown Brooklyn, New York. The Law School is searching for an Assistant Director of Campus Safety to join our team. The Assistant Director of Campus Safety supports the Director of Public Safety in managing and administering all aspects of campus security, safety, and crime prevention operations. This role ensures the safety of students, staff, and visitors across Brooklyn Law School’s main campus and residential facilities. Responsibilities include: • Assist in leading a team of 13 contract security guards across campus and residential locations., • Serve as acting Director in their absence, assuming full operational and supervisory responsibilities., • Oversee daily operations of the Campus Safety Department, including policy development, procedural updates, and service evaluations., • Collaborate with school administrators, department heads, and facilities personnel to shape campus safety policies., • Manage the Student ID/Badging system, including creation and distribution of student identification cards., • Administer parking garage operations, including access control and issuance of annual parking passes., • Conduct regular video surveillance checks and ensure proper functioning of security systems., • Coordinate with vendors on access control and security technology projects., • Supervise Campus Safety Team members, providing guidance, support, and conflict resolution., • Assist in the development of and lead training programs for safety personnel, • Assist in budget planning, expenditure tracking, and capital project recommendations., • Design contingency plans for emergencies and coordinate security for special events., • Investigate violations of school policy and collaborate with external agencies when necessary., • Bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice, or Associate’s degree plus four years of relevant experience in law enforcement or security services., • Valid NYS Security Guard License., • Strong knowledge of campus safety, law enforcement, and investigative procedures., • Proven administrative, supervisory, and communication skills., • Familiarity with fire prevention techniques and emergency medical response (CPR/AED certification required)., • Understanding of Clery Act, Title IX, FERPA, and other relevant laws., • Ability to respond swiftly to emergencies across campus., • Skilled in working with diverse populations under high-stress or emergency conditions., • S-95 Certificate of Fitness, • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer, • Periods standing outdoors in the heat or cold.
