American Traveler is seeking a travel nurse RN PACU - Post Anesthesia Care for a travel nursing job in Bakersfield, California. Job Description & Requirements • Specialty: PACU - Post Anesthesia Care, • Discipline: RN, • Start Date: 10/27/2025, • Duration: 13 weeks, • 40 hours per week, • Shift: 10 hours, days, • Work in the Post Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) in an acute care hospital setting, • Provide care to adult and pediatric patients recovering from general, orthopedic, neuro, vascular, burn, gynecological, and ICU-related surgeries, • Handle ICU overflow patients in the PACU when required, including those on pressors, sedation, and ventilators, • Normal nurse aides support available during business hours, • Utilizes Cerner EMR for documentation, • Shifts are 4x10s, starting at 0700, with rotating weekends and call required, • Travelers are the first to float as needed, • PACU RNs will recover a mixed surgical population, including handling ICU overflow until beds are available, • Charge Nurse coverage is available, though charge assignments are rare for travelers, • Dark blue scrubs or hospital-supplied scrubs are required, • Mandatory pass/fail testing on sterile technique for catheter insertion and central line dressing changes during orientation, • May not have worked directly for the health system or affiliated facilities in the past year\n \n Requirements\n, • Active CA RN license required at time of consideration, • Minimum 2 years of recent PACU and ICU experience required, • Current ACLS, BLS (AHA), and PALS certifications required, • Experience managing ICU level post-op patients, including pressors, sedation, and ventilator care, • No first time travelers will be considered, • Submission must include a copy of driver’s license, • At least two references: one supervisory from within the last 12 months and another peer or supervisor within the last 3 years\n Benefits\n, • High Pay and Bonuses, • Medical, Dental and Vision Insurance with Day 1 Options, • 401(k) Plan, • Weekly Payroll Deposit, • Free Online CEUs, • Generous Housing Allowance, • Travel and Licensure Reimbursements, • Non-taxed Per Diem and Subsidy With thousands of travel nursing and allied jobs nationwide, our attentive and approachable recruiters find positions that align perfectly with your career aspirations and personal requirements.
