Job DescriptionSterile Processing Technician Location: Hyannis, MA Duration: 13 Weeks Schedule: 3:00 PM – 11:00 PM Hours: 40 Hours/Week Weekend: Potential for Rotating Weekends Travel Gross Weekly: $1,200 – $1,300/week (Based on Experience) Local Pay: $28 – $32/hour (Based on Experience) Job Description We are seeking a skilled Sterile Processing Technician to support the safe and efficient decontamination, preparation, sterilization, storage, and distribution of medical instruments and equipment. Decontamination • Identify and use appropriate methods and solutions to decontaminate instruments and clinical equipment., • Sort, disassemble, decontaminate, rinse, and disinfect instruments and clinical equipment., • Understand and adhere to proper PPE requirements and procedures.Instrument Preparation, • Consistently use count sheets to correctly assemble instrumentation., • Properly protect, wrap, containerize, package, and label instruments., • Inspect instruments for cleanliness, functionality, and readiness for use.Storage & Distribution, • Properly handle and store sterile supplies, equipment, and instruments., • Access and utilize physician preference cards as needed., • Retrieve, distribute, and track medical and surgical supplies and equipment in a timely and accurate manner.Sterilization Process, • Select appropriate sterilization methods based on the instruments and equipment being processed., • Follow established sterilization procedures and standards., • Properly document and verify sterilization loads and biological tests to confirm sterilization effectiveness.Equipment Operate and understand equipment commonly used in Sterile Processing, including: • Steam sterilizers, • ETO sterilizers, • STERRAD and other low-temperature sterilization systems, • Steris sterilizers, • Cart washers, • Washer/disinfectors, • Ultrasonic cleaners, • Heat sealers, • Sterilization testing and monitoring devicesInventory Control, • Follow procedures for ordering, receiving, stocking, and monitoring surgical supply usage., • Communicate supply shortages or issues to the appropriate personnel in a timely manner.General Responsibilities, • Serve as a resource to customers regarding Sterile Processing functions and procedures., • Track progress related to training, staff meetings, and in-service education in conjunction with management., • Perform Sterile Processing Aide duties independently and efficiently with minimal direct supervision., • Demonstrate the ability to participate in on-call responsibilities when required., • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment., • Provide professional and courteous service to patients, family members, visitors, volunteers, and coworkers., • Perform other related duties as assigned.Qualifications Sterile Processing Aide, • Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English., • High school diploma or GED., • Basic computer skills., • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, including communication by phone, intercom, and in person., • Successful completion of a Medical Terminology course OR successful completion of a Medical Terminology challenge examination., • Must meet at least one of the following:, • Successful completion of an Anatomy & Physiology course at the high school level or higher., • Successful completion of an Anatomy examination., • Current SPD/Sterile Processing Technician certification., • At least 3 years of recent Sterile Processing experience within the past 5 years., • Must successfully pass the required Sterile Processing Technician certification examination.Sterile Processing Technician I Must meet all requirements for a Sterile Processing Aide, plus: • At least 1 year of experience as a Sterile Processing Aide., • SPD/Sterile Processing Technician certification.
