We are seeking a Psychiatric Physician Assistant for a 10-day locum tenens assignment in New York beginning Jan 2, 2026. This role requires flexibility for 12-hour day and night shifts as the hospital will assign coverage based on patient and client needs. The provider will perform comprehensive psychiatric care across the lifespan, including acute, chronic, and complex cases. Job Details • Location: New York, • Start Date: Jan 2, 2026, • LOA: 10 days, • Provider Type Needed: Psychiatry Physician Assistant, • Conduct comprehensive psychiatric evaluations, including psychiatric history, mental status exams, psychosocial assessments, and diagnosis per DSM-5 criteria, • Diagnose and treat psychiatric disorders with evidence-based treatment plans, • Manage patients with acute, chronic, and complex psychiatric conditions across all age groups, including child/adolescent and geriatric populations, • Prescribe, titrate, or discontinue psychotropic medications within licensure scope, • Deliver brief, evidence-based psychotherapeutic interventions such as CBT, supportive therapy, and motivational interviewing, • Collaborate with psychiatrists, social workers, therapists, primary care, and nursing teams for interdisciplinary care planning, • Document accurately and timely in the medical record, including assessments, progress notes, medication orders, and discharge summaries, • Monitor treatment response, side effects, and medication adherence; order and interpret relevant laboratory or diagnostic tests, • Provide crisis intervention and risk assessment, including management of suicidal or homicidal ideation and psychiatric emergencies, • Participate in group therapy facilitation and family meetings, • Observe and support Electroconvulsive Therapy as needed, • Provide substance use disorder treatment, including buprenorphine waiver management, • Care for patients with severe neurocognitive disorders, • Active New York Physician Assistant license required, • Board certification in Psychiatry required, • Strong compensation, • Travel-related expenses covered, • A-rated medical malpractice insurance provided #LI-SC1
