\n\n\n\n\n Job Summary: \n\n We are seeking a Physician Assistant to join the Maternal and Fetal Medicine Department at Westchester Medical Center in Valhalla, New York. This is a unique position that would provide support for the providers in the department and work closely with our OB/GYN service lines to easily co-manage high risk obstetrical patients. The candidate would also work closely with our on-site sonographers, residents and other support staff on the labor and delivery department. With the physician and physician assistant (PA) relationship, PAs exercise autonomy in medical decision making and provide a broad range of diagnostic and therapeutic services. Other responsibilities would include participating and contributing to the growth of the entire womens health program for the network. \n\n Responsibilities: \n\n\n\t • Medical knowledge and understanding of pathophysiology, patient presentation, differential diagnosis, Patient management, surgical principles, health promotion and disease prevention.\n\t, • Manage general medical conditions and chronic conditions.\n\t, • Identify the appropriate site of care for presenting conditions, including identifying emergent cases that require inpatient admission versus outpatient management.\n\t, • Admitting and triaging pregnant patients for the labor and delivery department.\n\t, • Daily rounding with MFM attending and assisting in intrapartum and postpartum care.\n\t, • Develops an assessment and a therapeutic plan and renders ongoing patient care based on this plan in an inpatient and outpatient setting as per protocol.\n\t, • Performs specific procedures, including vaginal deliveries, and first assist in Cesarean deliveries.\n\t, • Interpreting fetal heart tracings and performing obstetrical ultrasounds to assess fetal well-being.\n\t, • Order and interpret diagnostic testing, blood work, pathology, etc according to protocols established by the department and in compliance with the NYS rules and regulations governing the performance of Physician Assistants.\n\t, • Finalize discharge with appropriate follow up plans. Be familiar with electronic ordering of medications, diabetic supplies or any other equipment as needed.\n\t, • Assist inpatient gynecology service, including ED consults during resident sign-out.\n\t, • Bachelors degree required, Masters degree preferred.\n\t, • Certification by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA) must be obtained prior to first day of employment\n\t, • Current valid license to practice as a Physician Assistant (PA) by the state department of education is required\n\t, • Current BLS certification is required\n\n\n\n\n\n
