Homes for the Homeless (HFH) is searching for a dedicated Dance & Performing Arts Specialist to work in the Day Camp program at our Families w/ Children facility in the Jamaica area of Queens, NY. This position is a seasonal, full-time position from June 24th – August 21st. Summary: The Chorus & Voice Training Specialist will detect and distinguish each participant’s voice range and ability and assign their vocal part; working with students to explore the unique instrument of their voice box and will instill tips and techniques to make the voice sound powerful. In addition to vocal technique, the specialist will help expand the range and expression of the students to become more confident in vocal performances. The Chorus & Voice Training Specialist should encourage students to sing with more freedom, simple harmonies, have better breath control, and understand how to take care of their voice. The Chorus & Voice Training Specialist will teach and accompany the class with their primary instrument, preferably a piano. It’s essential for the Chorus & Voice Training Specialist to work with melody prep tracks designed to teach melodic independence as well as singing with instrumental accompaniment. Position: Residential Aide Reports To: Supervisor Location: Kings Inn Family Shelter What The Recreation Aide Does: • Maintain professional relationships with clients and client confidentiality., • Practice Universal Precautions/Standard Protocol & Procedures., • Comply with any and all Federal, State, City and CAMBA security and privacy polices intended to protect the security and privacy of individually identifiable health information., • Assist with the teaching of physical education, arts and crafts, performing arts, music, sports, ADL or other recreational activities., • Help plan, coordinate and facilitate social and/or peer support events for clients., • Organize, and co-facilitate group community activities., • Assist with the design and production of aesthetic visuals for public spaces of the shelter which reflect cultural, seasonal and programmatic themes., • Communicate effectively with clients, CAMBA staff, community members and with funders., • Track and keep records of equipment and supplies used., • Ensure that recreation facilities and equipment are used properly., • Monitor clients' progress toward their goals (dates achieved) and document via progress notes., • Market the program in order to recruit clients., • Provide all required information for weekly/monthly/quarterly/annual reports., • May conduct initial and ongoing assessments of clients’ situations and needs., • May prepare marketing materials for the program., • May create and maintain client files., • May input client data and client progress information into automated database., • Bachelor’s Degree (B.A.) in a related field. This role supports high-quality, age-appropriate learning experiences that build students’ confidence, curiosity, and collaboration skills through hands-on, interactive activities. Programming topics vary by assignment and may include STEM enrichment, arts, games and design challenges, academic skill-building, or structured clubs. The instructor will deliver instruction one day per week for approximately one hour across a typical 10-week cycle, with pacing adapted to student needs and site logistics. What You Will Teach The After-School Activities Teacher leads structured enrichment sessions designed to promote active participation, positive peer interaction, and skill development. Lessons should be engaging, appropriately scaffolded, and aligned to a clear weekly plan, while remaining flexible to the needs of the group and the school environment. Major Topics Can Include • Team-building games and collaborative problem-solving, • STEM enrichment activities (design challenges, simple coding or logic activities, experiments aligned to site expectations), • Creative arts (visual art, digital creativity, music activities, performance-based projects), • Academic enrichment (homework support, study skills, literacy/math games), • Social-emotional learning routines (communication, self-management, goal-setting, reflection), • Leadership and workplace readiness habits (responsibility, persistence, respectful discussion), • Project-based learning and student showcases, • Deliver a 10-session after-school enrichment course with clear objectives and engaging instruction, • Establish consistent routines, transitions, and expectations aligned to site policies, • Facilitate hands-on activities that promote participation, collaboration, and skill growth, • Differentiate instruction to support varying readiness levels and learning needs, • Maintain a safe, inclusive, and supportive learning environment, • Communicate professionally with site staff and Concorde program contacts regarding attendance and session completion tracking, • Minimum of 60 college credits (or Associate degree in progress/completed), • Experience working with school-age students in structured settings (school, camp, after-school, tutoring, youth programs), • Strong facilitation skills, classroom presence, and clear communication, • Reliable, punctual, and professional; able to follow school policies and program boundaries, • Ability to lead engaging activities with appropriate structure and positive behavior supports, • Comfort implementing lesson plans and providing clear documentation of session completion, as required
