Job Description Job Title: Carpenter Job Description This role involves performing carpentry work on multiple projects, with a focus on steel stud framing, drop and acoustical ceilings, doors and windows, and finish carpentry. You will use your skills in cutting, measuring, and blueprint reading to complete high-quality installations in a fast-paced, professional construction environment. Responsibilities • Perform steel stud framing for commercial construction projects, ensuring structures are square, plumb, and level., • Install framing for walls, ceilings, and other structural elements according to project specifications and blueprints., • Install drop ceilings and acoustical ceilings, including grid systems and panels, with precise alignment and finish., • Install doors and windows, including frames, hardware, and glass, ensuring proper operation and weather-tight seals., • Measure and cut materials accurately using hand tools and power tools to meet design and layout requirements., • Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and project plans to understand scope of work and required specifications., • Perform finish carpentry tasks as needed to complete interior and exterior work to a professional standard., • Use carpentry hand tools and power tools safely and effectively, including hammers, drills, levels, and squares., • Follow all safety protocols, including wearing PPE at all times and maintaining a clean, organized work area., • Arrive on site by the required start time, clock in and out correctly, and move efficiently between assigned floors and facilities., • Follow directions precisely from site leadership, adapt to feedback, and adjust methods as requested., • Maintain productivity throughout the workday, demonstrating strong work ethic, attention to detail, and a positive attitude., • Refrain from cell phone use, calls, and headphones during work hours to maintain focus and site safety. Essential Skills • Proven experience as a commercial carpenter, with hands-on work in active construction environments., • Strong proficiency in steel stud framing, including layout, installation, and alignment., • Experience installing drop ceilings and acoustical ceilings in commercial settings., • Proficiency in door installation, including frames, hardware, and alignment., • Experience with window installation and basic glass-related work., • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and construction drawings accurately., • Strong measuring and cutting skills, with consistent accuracy and attention to detail., • Competence in finish carpentry tasks to deliver clean, professional results., • OSHA 30 Required Why Work Here? Work Environment This role is based on multiple commercial construction projects throughout New York City and Long Island. The standard workday begins at 7:00 a.m., with the expectation to be on site by 6:45 a.m., and typically ends around 3:30 or 4:00 p.m., with some overtime available. You will work between two main facilities and clock in and out on different floors, so carrying valid identification at all times is required. Site leadership provides close supervision and clear direction, with an emphasis on productivity, quality, and adherence to instructions. The environment is safety-focused: you must wear PPE at all times, avoid cell phone calls during work, and not use air pods or headphones on site. You will use standard carpentry tools such as a hammer, tool belt, carpentry hand tools, speed square, torpedo level, and cordless drill. The dress code aligns with typical construction-site expectations, including appropriate workwear and safety gear suitable for an active job site. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Patchogue, NY. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $35.00/hr.
