Job DescriptionCivil Engineer – Site DevelopmentOverview We’re seeking a Civil Engineer to support and lead site development projects across New York City and Nassau County. This role focuses on delivering high‑quality civil design solutions for residential, commercial, and municipal projects, with responsibilities spanning design, permitting, coordination, and construction support. You’ll work closely with multidisciplinary teams, interact with municipal agencies, and have the opportunity to mentor junior staff while continuing your path toward Professional Engineer (PE) licensure. This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated engineer looking to grow their technical expertise while working on a diverse mix of urban and suburban developments. Key Responsibilities • Lead and support civil design efforts for site development projects, including site layout, grading, drainage, stormwater management, utilities, and roadway elements, • Prepare engineering design drawings, technical calculations, reports, and permitting packages for agency review and approval, • Support project planning activities such as scheduling, task coordination, and milestone tracking in collaboration with project managers and internal teams, • Coordinate with clients, municipal agencies, and stakeholders; participate in meetings, hearings, and site visits to present designs and address technical comments, • Ensure designs and deliverables comply with applicable local, state, and federal regulations, including NYSDEC and municipal requirements, • Perform QA/QC reviews on plans, calculations, and reports to maintain accuracy, constructability, and consistency, • Provide guidance and oversight to junior engineers, drafters, and field staff to support team development and quality outcomes, • Assist with hydrologic and hydraulic analyses related to drainage and stormwater systems, • Support projects from concept design through permitting and construction support as neededRequired Qualifications, • 3+ years of civil engineering experience focused on site development and land development projects, • Proficiency in AutoCAD and experience using Civil 3D for site layout, grading, and infrastructure design, • Hands-on experience with grading, drainage, stormwater systems, utility routing, and sanitary design, • Experience supporting residential, commercial, and municipal projects, ideally within urban and suburban environments such as NYC and Nassau County, • Working knowledge of hydrologic and hydraulic design principles, • Familiarity with land development permitting processes and agency coordination, including NYSDEC and local municipalities, • Strong technical writing skills, with the ability to prepare reports, calculations, and permit documentation, • Detail-oriented approach with a strong commitment to QA/QC and technical accuracy, • Effective communication skills and the ability to collaborate across multidisciplinary teams, • Actively pursuing Professional Engineer (PE) licensurePreferred Qualifications, • Experience supporting projects from conceptual design through construction administration, • Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines in a fast‑paced environment, • Comfort working in both office and field settings, including occasional site visits Competitive compensation package Health, dental, and vision benefits 401(k) with company match Professional development support, including PE licensure assistance Opportunities for career growth within a respected Long Island engineering firm Workplace Type This is a fully onsite position in Huntington,NY.
