Program Overview COMPASS/SONYC After-School Programs are funded by the New York City Department of Youth and Community Development (DYCD) and other funders, to serve approximately 2,150 children and youth in grades K-8. Children at elementary and middle schools participate in program activities (such as homework help, conflict resolution, academic enrichment, recreation and creative arts programming) during after school hours and thirteen school holidays. Position: Assistant Program Director- Afterschool Reports To: Supervisor I - Site Director Location: 50 Jefferson Avenue, Brooklyn, NY & 18 Marlborough Rd, Brooklyn, NY 11226 What The Assistant Program Director - Afterschool Does: The person filling this position is expected, under close supervision, to interact with participants, their families, the community-at-large, and school administrative personnel to monitor attendance and participation in program activities; including the following: • Ensure the safety and security of each program participant by following all CAMBA after-school protocols and procedures including but not limited to procedures and protocols regarding safety, supervision, accident and incident reporting., • Mange the after-school program in the Director’s absence., • Manage the after-school office daily during after-school program hours., • Monitor, collect, and compile daily and monthly attendance records of targeted participants., • Input all client attendance data into database(s) on a daily basis., • Keep accurate records on absenteeism and success resulting from counseling and referrals., • Follow up and report to parent(s) participants' attendance via telephone calls, mailings, and home visits on a daily, weekly, and monthly basis., • Order, receive, and maintain office supplies., • Maintain participant’s files., • Coordinate Parent workshops regarding CAMBA’s workshops and services., • Maintain daily logs for all activities., • Retrieve messages from general voicemail and forwards to appropriate personnel., • Answer incoming telephone calls and forward calls to appropriate personnel or department., • Take or deliver messages or transfers calls to voicemail when appropriate personnel are unavailable., • Answer questions about organization and provides callers with address, directions, and other information., • Welcome onsite visitors, determines nature of business, and announce visitors to appropriate personnel., • Monitor visitor access and issues passes when required., • Receive, sort, and route mail, and maintains and routes publications., • Prepare MTA travel vouchers., • Create and print attendance sheets, memos, parent notifications, correspondence, reports, program marketing materials, and other documents when necessary., • Perform other clerical duties as needed, such as filing, photocopying, and collating., • May encourage parents to become active participants in the Parent's Association and to attend school-based parent workshops., • May advise parents on the importance of child(ren)'s regular school attendance during individual parent conferences., • May act as liaison with agency and school administration and teaching staff, and may attend School Leadership Team and Building Response Team meetings., • May work with school administrative staff to identify students to be served by the program., • May perform computer data entry/verification functions., • Tasks may be modified, expanded and/or assigned over a period of time. STATEMENT OF THE JOB The Superintendent V works as an integral member of on-site maintenance team to ensure safe affordable housing is provided and maintained for tenants who live in buildings managed by POP Management, the housing office of Catholic Charities, Brooklyn & Queens. The Superintendent V is responsible for the management of all aspects of building & facilities maintenance, and, under the direction of the Property Manager, provides task supervision for maintenance staff. The Superintendent V has responsibility for buildings with technological advancements featuring all-electric heating, cooling, and hot water systems, and incorporate resiliency components to create areas of refuge for residents and community neighbors, including back-up generator power for cooling, charging, sheltering in place and other emergency needs. FEC offerings are available to everyone, regardless of current or past child welfare involvement. The goal of the Family Enrichment Center (FEC) is to enhance child and family well-being by providing access and support to enable the strengthening of family protective factors inherent in its residents and community by building mutual community connections, capacity, and resilience. In partnership with FEC staff, families will drive the planning, development, and sustainable co-ownership of the centers. Families who participate in the FEC programming will be encouraged to share their expertise by volunteering at the center and given meaningful opportunities to engage with neighbors and peers. The goal of the FEC is to strengthen families’ protective factors and build community connections, capacity, and resilience. Position Summary: The Community Liaison contributes to the day-to-day operation of the Family Enrichment Center (FEC) by helping to develop and maintain a parent or advisory group; cultivating relationships with other community groups and stakeholders to collaborate around meeting community needs; ensuring a warm and welcoming atmosphere at the FEC program where information, referrals, and resources are freely offered and exchanged to support the needs of participants; and joining and/or creating a network of resources by serving on community district committees, attending local school meetings and events, and building relationships with local businesses and faith-based groups. We take a comprehensive approach by offering more than 180 integrated programs in: Education & Youth Development, Family Support, Job Training & Employment Support Services, Health, Housing, and Legal Services. We reach almost 80,000 individuals and families, including almost 13,000 youth. CAMBA serves a diverse cross section of New Yorkers from new mothers in Brownsville to job seekers in the Rockaways. More than half of our clients are immigrants and refugees from around the globe. Over 85% of our families are living in poverty, reflecting the challenges faced by nearly 1.7 million New Yorkers today. CAMBA operates 6 single adult shelters and 6 family shelters and one drop in center. Each shelter offers clients a supportive, structured therapeutic, safe, and drug-free facility. Program Overview The Learning to Work (LTW) for Transfer Schools Program will provide services to students, ages 15-21 that are over-aged for grade, under-credited, and have spent at least one year in another high school to earn a high school diploma and gain valuable vocational and life skills supports. Using the Primary Person Model, each student will have a Young Adult Career Advisor who will: guide students towards removing barriers toward graduation, engage students in college preparatory activities, provide supportive services, and increase self-direction and self-sufficiency through meaningful career exploration experiences, including subsidized internship placements for 20% of the student population. Position: Advocate Counselor Reports To: Supervisor II Location: 321 East 96th Street New York, NY 10128 & 145 Stanton Street New York, NY 10002 What The Advocate Counselor Does: The person filling this position is expected, under general supervision, to: (1) serve as young adult students' primary motivator; and (2) assist young adult students in eliminating barriers to education/employment. • Maintain professional relationships with students and student confidentiality., • Conduct initial intake and assessment of students and/or students' families' situations and needs (including academic and skill levels, basic skills, occupational skills, prior work experience, employability, interests, aptitudes, support service’s needs, family and medical history, and individual development needs)., • Create and maintain student files., • Assist students in attaining their goals by identifying and locating community resources for students and by making referrals to appropriate services both within and outside CAMBA., • Track student attendance daily., • Reach out to absent students (i.e. phone calls, letters, home visits, etc.) daily., • Follow-up with students and with referral organizations regarding student contact and progress with referral organization., • Counsel students regularly either through meetings in CAMBA offices, by telephone and/or home visits., • Work with students to break through barriers to student goals and to assist students in advocating for themselves., • Recommend and implement strategies to persuade students to participate more fully in this process., • Follow-up at least two times with graduates for one year after graduation., • Reach out and market the program to the community in order to recruit students., • Enter all required data into CAMBA’s online internal database system Enginuity., • Create narrative case notes regarding student progress at each point of contact using Enginuity., • Keep an Excel monthly report spreadsheet of all services given., • Provide all required information for weekly/monthly/quarterly/annual reports., • May act as student liaison/student advocate with outside organizations regarding such matters as education, healthcare, housing, legal issues, etc., • May facilitate workshops (i.e - Life Skills, College Explorations, Work Exploration)., • May prepare marketing materials for the program., • May prescreen students over the telephone/face-to-face for eligibility., • May assist families in obtaining health services coverage when eligible., • May assist students in completing applications for benefits and entitlements., • May assist students in completing all CAMBA intake applications and forms., • May review all documentation establishing student’s eligibility for program and make file copies., • Tasks may be modified, expanded and/or assigned over a period of time.
