Job Description Lenox Hill Neighborhood House, widely recognized as one of New York’s premier human services providers, is a settlement house founded in 1894 that provides an extensive array of effective and integrated services—social, educational, health, housing, mental health, nutritional and fitness—which significantly improve the lives of 16,000 people in need each year, ages 3 to 103, on the East Side of Manhattan. Our Member and Visitor Services team serve as the welcoming point of entry for thousands of New Yorkers who access our services and programs each year. The Neighborhood House provides an incredible array of expansive programming including public health, case management, fitness and aquatics, health and wellness, arts and culture, education and socialization activities seven days a week. As the first point of contact, Member and Visitor Services team members embody the spirit of hospitality, professionalism, and care that defines the Neighborhood House. Hourly Rate: $28.60/hour with a weekly schedule of 7 to 20 hours per week The Receptionist will be an integral member of our Member and Visitor Services team, joining other administrative staff, social workers, program assistants, educators and numerous volunteers who serve our community each day. Reporting directly to our Property Manager, the Receptionist will have a flexible part time schedule working up 7 to 20 hours each week. The Receptionist will: • Interface daily with Members, Visitors and Neighbors, arriving at the reception desk, providing information and support, fielding questions and responding to needs, • Play a critical role in communicating the vast array of programming and services offered, • Welcome and orient new visitors and ensure accurate information is shared, • Complete all required check-in procedures for various programs and activities taking place at the Neighborhood House, • Maintain sign-up sheets and other documentation to ensure accurate tracking of activities and programs, • Help facilitate day-to-day operations of our bustling Settlement House and ensure they are conducted in accordance with our high-performance standards and government regulations, • Have a thorough working knowledge of events, classes and schedules, hours, programs, staffing, services, policies, rules and regulations, • Verify, notify, accept and sign for incoming and outgoing mail and deliveries including posting mail at the local post office or other shipping locations daily, • Collaborate effectively with Lenox Hill Neighborhood House’s staff from a variety of departments and disciplines, • Complete all other duties and responsibilities as assigned by Supervisor. Qualifications: • Two years of customer service or other related experience, • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, • Excellent telephone etiquette and interpersonal communication skills, • Basic technology and computer skills including familiarity with Microsoft suite products, • An ability to interact professionally with a diverse community of clients, visitors, and staff, • Experience working at a community organization in a client facing role ideal, • Fluency in Spanish or Mandarin a plus, • Committed to working a flexible part time schedule between 7:30 a.m. and 7:00 p.m. daily with a preference for shifts on Thursdays and Fridays from 11:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. What We Offer • We like to have fun!
