Job Description THE ORGANIZATION The Center for Justice Innovation is a nonprofit organization dedicated to advancing community safety and racial justice. Since 1996, we’ve worked alongside communities, courts, and those most directly affected by the justice system to build stronger, healthier, and more equitable neighborhoods. With a team of over 900 staff and an annual budget of $130 million, the Center carries out its mission through three core strategies: • Operating Programs that pilot new ideas and address local challenges;, • Conducting original research to evaluate what works—and what doesn’t; and THE OPPORTUNITY The Brooklyn Mental Health Court (BMHC) launched in 2002 as NYC’s first mental health court, serving individuals charged primarily with felony offenses who are living with serious mental illness. The program diverts participants from jail or prison by conducting clinical assessments and then connecting them with long-term treatment in the community, along with rigorous judicial monitoring. The court aims to strengthen the justice system’s ability to identify, assess, and monitor individual participants, to create linkages between the justice and mental health systems, and to improve public safety by ensuring that participants receive high quality community-based services. The Brooklyn Felony ATI Program utilizes a similar model to Brooklyn Mental Health Court, serving individuals facing felony charges who are not otherwise eligible for Mental Health Court or other treatment courts in Brooklyn. The program receives referrals through two pathways: (1) the dedicated Felony ATI court part within Brooklyn Supreme Court, with a dedicated judge and supervising prosecutor; and (2) through other court parts throughout Brooklyn Criminal and Supreme Court. Regardless of the referral pathway, all participants receive individualized assessments, onsite and community-based services, compliance monitoring and judicial monitoring for the life of the case. BMHC is seeking a Social Worker for its Brooklyn Felony Diversion programs. The Social Worker will serve individuals who are mandated to Felony Alternative to Incarceration (Felony ATI) programming through the Brooklyn Supreme Court. Reporting to the Clinical Director, the Social Worker is responsible for conducting psychosocial assessments, linking clients to a range of wrap-around services, providing comprehensive trauma-informed case management, compliance monitoring, and reporting for clients referred to the Brooklyn Mental Health Court and Brooklyn Felony ATI programs. Since 1996, we’ve worked alongside communities, courts, and those most directly affected by the justice system to build stronger, healthier, and more equitable neighborhoods. With a team of over 900 staff and an annual budget of $130 million, the Center carries out its mission through three core strategies: • Operating Programs that pilot new ideas and address local challenges;, • Conducting original research to evaluate what works—and what doesn’t; and THE OPPORTUNITY Staten Island Justice Center (SIJC) seeks to re-engineer the experience of criminal court in Staten Island, New York, by providing judges and attorneys meaningful alternatives to bail, fines, and jail sentences. Operating out of Richmond County Criminal Court along with community-based offices, SIJC is a team of social service providers, court-based resource coordinators, mental health practitioners, compliance specialists, and others who seek to improve the quality of justice. Supervised Release offers an alternative to jail by providing pretrial supervision, case management, and voluntary social services to people charged with misdemeanor and felony offenses, and in doing so, uses an arrest as a window of opportunity to change the direction of a participant’s life, avoiding the harmful effects of incarceration. Program participants are monitored to ensure their appearance at court dates and mandatory programming, and receive referrals to services like job training, drug treatment, and mental health counseling. SIJC seeks a Participant Engagement Specialist for the borough’s Supervised Release Program (SRP) which provides supervision, case management, and social service connection to thousands of court-mandated participants each year. Reporting to the Clinical Intake Coordinator, the Participant Engagement Specialist will leverage interpersonal and data-management skills to support participants’ successful engagement with the program. The Participant Engagement Specialist will provide outreach to program participants who missed program orientation, intake, and those who have been disengaged for 30 days or more. Operating out of Richmond County Criminal Court along with community-based offices, SIJC is a team of social service providers, court-based resource coordinators, mental health practitioners, compliance specialists, and others who seek to improve the quality of justice. Supervised Release offers an alternative to jail by providing pretrial supervision, case management, and voluntary social services to people charged with misdemeanor and felony offenses, and in doing so, uses an arrest as a window of opportunity to change the direction of a participant’s life, avoiding the harmful effects of incarceration. Program participants are monitored to ensure their appearance at court dates and mandatory programming, and receive referrals to services like job training, drug treatment, and mental health counseling. SIJC is seeking a Clinician, Supervised Release Program (SRP). Reporting to the Clinical Director, the Clinician, SRP will be licensed a social worker and mental health practitioner responsible for providing therapeutically-informed support to participants. This position will leverage exemplary clinical and interpersonal skills to provide clinical support to participants enrolled in the program. Specifically, the Clinician, SRP will facilitate CBT-informed sessions for all Tier 2 participants, provide short-term counseling for any participant identified as a strong candidate for mental health support, and external referrals to therapy, as appropriate. This position provides hours towards LCSW accreditation. The Clinician, SRP will not carry a standard SRP caseload. Rather, they will work closely with the case management and specialty in-house referral teams to case conference about participants' strengths and needs and coordinate tailored support as appropriate. The Clinician, SRP will work with other SRP teams to ensure access to, completion of, and accurate data entry for CBT and other therapeutically-informed sessions to ensure these sessions count toward participants’ compliance status. Brooklyn Felony ATI Program The Brooklyn Felony ATI Program utilizes a similar model to Brooklyn Mental Health Court, serving individuals facing felony charges who are not otherwise eligible for Mental Health Court or other treatment courts in Brooklyn. The program receives referrals through two pathways: (1) the dedicated Felony ATI court part within Brooklyn Supreme Court, with a dedicated judge and supervising prosecutor; and (2) through other court parts throughout Brooklyn Criminal and Supreme Court. Regardless of the referral pathway, all participants receive individualized assessments, onsite and community-based services, compliance monitoring and judicial monitoring for the life of the case. BMHC is seeking a Social Worker for its Brooklyn Felony Diversion programs. The Social Worker will serve individuals who are mandated to Brooklyn Mental Health Court and Felony Alternative to Incarceration (Felony ATI) programming through the Brooklyn Supreme Court. Reporting to the Clinical Director, the Social Worker is responsible for conducting psychosocial assessments, linking clients to a range of wrap-around services, providing comprehensive trauma-informed case management, compliance monitoring, and reporting for clients referred to the Brooklyn Mental Health Court and Brooklyn Felony ATI programs. The Adjunct Teacher facilitates a pre-internship preparation course using a curriculum that connects employability skills, educational engagement, and justice system avoidance to four core competencies: critical thinking, communication, creative problem-solving, and resource management. Central to exalts curriculum is a Freire-inspired critical pedagogical approach that validates and builds upon participants lived experiences, cultures, skills, and interests while reinforcing discipline and accountability. Job Description The Director of Special Events is a high-impact role responsible for designing and executing a comprehensive, multi-channel fundraising and engagement strategy to secure at least $5M in annual revenue through fundraising events. This role is both strategic and execution-focused, requiring strong leadership, judgment, and the ability to operate at a senior level with trustees, major donors, and executive leadership. The primary focus is maximizing revenue through galas, high-level cultivation events, and institutional stewardship initiatives. Fundraising events include a signature 500-650 person annual Spring Benefit and the annual 250-person High Line Art Dinner, as well as luncheons, lectures, tours and cocktail receptions. Since 1996, we’ve worked alongside communities, courts, and those most directly affected by the justice system to build stronger, healthier, and more equitable neighborhoods. The aim of Community First is to create an upstream diversion from arrest and justice system involvement by building supportive relationships with people in need of services and creating linkages to mental health services, housing support, substance use services, and other kinds of social services as needed. Community First is a partnership between Midtown Community Justice Center, Breaking Ground, Fountain House, Times Square Alliance, Housing Works, and Ryan Health. Reporting to the Clinical Director, the Community Navigator will be tasked with engaging community members frequenting the Times Square and Midtown Manhattan area who are experiencing housing insecurity or homelessness and often have co-occurring behavioral health challenges. In keeping with the Community First model, the Navigator will build trusting relationships with those individuals, and facilitate linkages to social services and other community-based resources. The Community Navigator will also work with clients of MCJC’s onsite programs, including court-based and diversion programs, who are unstably housed. Community Navigators are peers who share some lived experience with clients and use their own experience in establishing trusted relationships. HS or college student or equivalent., 2. Previous experience working with children preferably in a day camp setting, with a minimum of two previous camp seasons as a Counselor., 3. Interest preferred in one or more of the following areas: outdoor living, archery, boating, camping, songs/music, skits, sports, aquatics, recreational games, etc., 4. At least 18 years of age., 5. Previous experience with diverse populations preferred.
