Job DescriptionManager of Transformer Services(Utility & Industrial Power | Oil Processing Required) Asplundh Electrical Testing (AET) is a premier provider of electrical testing, commissioning, and asset‑life extension services supporting utilities, power generation, transportation, and large industrial customers across North America. We specialize in transformer services, high‑voltage apparatus testing, and substation reliability programs that protect and strengthen the electric grid. We are seeking an experienced Manager of Transformer Services to lead regional transformer operations in New Jersey and the Northeast, with full accountability for oil processing, transformer maintenance and diagnostics, multi‑crew field execution, safety leadership, and customer relationships. Candidates should have hands‑on and managerial experience in transformer oil processing will not be considered. Position Overview This is a management‑level leadership role responsible for operational excellence, workforce leadership, and customer satisfaction across transformer projects. The successful candidate will bring deep utility‑industry expertise, proven oil processing experience, and the ability to lead complex transformer scopes safely, efficiently, and profitably. Work Location & Schedule • Primary Region: New Jersey and surrounding Northeast states, • Work Environment: Hybrid – substation field operations combined with office/home‑office coordination, • Travel: Regular regional travel with overnight stays as needed, • Schedule: Full‑time; flexibility required for outages, emergent utility response, nights, weekends, and overtime, • Residency: Preference for candidates residing in or willing to relocate to New Jersey or the NortheastUnion Affiliation:, • Must be a current IBEW member or willing to join Operational & Technical Leadership • Lead and manage multiple transformer service crews delivering installation, maintenance, diagnostics, repair, and oil processing services, • Oversee complex transformer projects, including:, • Assembly and disassembly, • Vacuum oil processing, oil reclamation, filtering, and degasification, • Diagnostics, inspections, repairs, and life‑extension programs, • Serve as the regional technical authority for:, • Transformer condition assessment, • Oil analysis interpretation and recommendations, • Troubleshooting abnormal test results and field conditions, • Ensure accurate execution and review of testing programs including:, • TTR, winding resistance, insulation resistance, • Power factor / Doble testing, • Transformer oil sampling and analysisSafety & Workforce Management, • Champion a world‑class safety culture through proactive field engagement, Job Briefings / JBOs, and strict adherence to AET and customer safety standards, • Provide direct leadership, coaching, and mentorship to supervisors and technicians to build bench strength and future leaders, • Ensure compliance with union work rules, qualifications, and training requirementsCustomer & Business Engagement, • Act as a trusted partner to utility and industrial customers, ensuring consistent communication, job readiness, and execution excellence, • Support business development by:, • Maintaining long‑term customer relationships, • Identifying opportunities for expanded transformer, oil processing, and high‑voltage services, • Collaborate with project managers and internal stakeholders to plan scopes, allocate resources, and manage cost and schedule expectationsDocumentation & Performance, • Ensure accurate, timely project documentation including:, • Test reports, • Service summaries, • Scope changes and cost‑impacting field decisions, • Utilize digital reporting tools and metrics to Track safety, quality, productivity, and customer satisfactionRequired Qualifications, • High school diploma or equivalent, • 10+ years of progressive experience in transformer services, utility substations, or high‑voltage environments, • Demonstrated hands‑on and leadership experience with transformer oil processing (vacuum processing, oil handling, filtration, degassing), • Proven ability to lead multi‑crew field operations safely and effectively, • Strong written and verbal communication skills for customer, union, and internal coordination, • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and digital field reporting tools, • Valid driver’s license with an insurable record, • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work safely in outdoor substations, • Willingness to travel frequently with overnight stays, • Flexibility for overtime, weekends, holidays, nights, and emergent response, • Successful completion of background checks and medical/drug screenings (where permitted), • Current IBEW member or willingness to joinPreferred Qualifications, • Advanced diagnostic testing experience:, • Doble power factor, • DLRO / micro‑ohm testing, • Winding resistance, IR testing, • Strong knowledge of utility substation equipment:, • Power transformers, • HV/MV breakers, • CTs, PTs, CCVTs, switchgear, • Experience planning and managing complex transformer scopes for utilities, • Expertise with oil‑processing trailers, oil handling procedures, and contamination control, • Familiarity with crane and rigging operations, • Experience with SF₆ gas carts and gas‑handling procedures Core Skills & TechnologiesTechnical, • Oil processing and
