Founded in 1959, The Division of Pediatric Hematology, Oncology, and Stem Cell Transplant at Columbia Children's Health, New York-Presbyterian Morgan Stanley Children's Hospital (MSCH) is one of the oldest and most comprehensive centers in the country focused on treating children with cancer and blood disorders. MSCH has 202 inpatient pediatric beds, including a 54-bed Pediatric Intensive Care Unit and 10 operating rooms. Our division is currently composed of 3 sections (Hematology, Oncology and Stem Cell Transplantation) with 21 full-time faculty, 4 research RN/NP's, 8 clinical research associates, and 3 regulatory specialists and includes an ACGME-accredited Fellowship Program and a FACT-accredited stem cell transplant program. The division is one of 21 institutions to serve as a core sire of the Children's Oncology Group Pediatric Early Phase Clinical Trials Network (PEP-CTN). It is also a member of the Therapeutic Advances in Childhood Leukemia and Lymphoma (TACL) Consortium. The successful candidate will care for patients receiving cellular immunotherapies (such as CAR T-cells), including pre- and post-infusion, develop clinical standards and guidelines for patients receiving these therapies, and provide oversight of clinical operations and clinical research related to cellular immunotherapies for pediatric oncology patients. They will collaborate with investigators at the Columbia University Irving Medical Center and the NCI-designated Herbert Irving Comprehensive Cancer Center (HICC) to develop and/or participate in PI-initiated clinical trials of novel immunotherapeutic treatments, and will be expected to oversee a robust pediatric clinical trials portfolio that will also include consortium and industry-sponsored trials. Clinical research related to acute and late complications, patient-reported outcomes, identification of prognostic factors, and impact of health-care disparities would also be encouraged. THE OPPORTUNITY/POSITION DESCRIPTION This opportunity to join the Department of Pediatrics at the Vagelos College of Physicians and Surgeons at the rank of instructor an exciting one. Columbia University Irving Medical Center, one of the nation's foremost academic health science center's working together with one of the nation's premier health systems, New York-Presbyterian Hospital. The desired candidate must be board certified/eligible in Pediatric Cardiology and will have completed a Pediatric Cardiology fellowship. The PACCT team consists of six heart failure/transplant cardiologists directed by Dr. Marc Richmond, four cardiac surgeons led by Dr. Emile Bacha, and a multi-disciplinary team that includes five nurse practitioners, two pharmacists, two social workers and nurse transplant and VAD coordinators. Begun in 1984, our transplant program has performed transplant in over 650 patients and currently averages approximately 20-25 transplants annually. In addition, we have an established MCS program led by Dr. Sabrina Law, offering the full complement of temporary and durable devices including Syncardia Total Artificial Heart. The program has recently provided MCS to approximately 15-20 patients per year, including bridge-to-transplant in complex CHD patients and destination VAD therapy. A close relationship with our surgical colleagues and adult VAD specialists offers a unique experience for novel approaches to VAD use. Our program consists of an established cardio-genetics clinic under the supervision of Dr. Teresa Lee, as well as multidisciplinary clinic for cardio-oncology, advanced Fontan care and Neuromuscular diseases; our center is an HCMA Center of Excellence for the care of patients with hypertrophic cardiomyopathy. We have strong collaboration with our colleagues in ACHD and adult cardiomyopathy, heart failure and transplantation, participating in joint clinical conference and other opportunities.
