Department/Unit: ICU-Surgical And Neuroscience - B2 Work Shift: Day (United States of America) Salary Range: $88,192.00 - $136,697.60 The Surgical and Neuroscience Intensive Care Unit (SICU and Neuro ICU) has a combined total of 30 intensive care beds designed to provide specialized care to the critically ill adult (14 and older) patient. The unit has a usual 50/50 split of patient population between the neuro and surgical patient population. The focus of care includes patients with life-threatening conditions related to major elective and emergency surgical procedures, multi-trauma, traumatic brain injury, spinal injury, stroke, seizure, sepsis/multi-organ system failure, hemodynamic instability and failure to wean. The SICU and Neuro ICU patient needs encompass but are not limited to comprehensive physical assessments, intensive monitoring, treatment of laboratory values, ventilator management and hemodynamic monitoring. SICU-Neuro ICU nurses require the following skill set – ICP monitoring via EVD and bolt, spinal drains/catheters, brain oxygen monitoring, Artic Sun therapy, continuous EEG, intra-arterial catheter, non-invasive cardiac output, mechanical ventilation, continuous renal replacement therapy, reconstructive flap monitoring, and massive blood transfusion among others. The Emergency Department is divided into five major zones: Major trauma and critical care, Resuscitation and minor care, Pediatrics, Acute care, and Rapid Care. D5N is a 21 bed neurosciences unit with one level of care. We take patients with ischemic and hemorrhagic strokes, brain tumors, aneurysms, seizures, traumatic brain injuries, neuromuscular diseases and other diagnoses involving the neurologic system. The floor beds consist of patients requiring every 4-hour monitoring. Additionally, there are 7 Epilepsy Monitoring Unit (EMU) beds embedded in the 21 neuro floor beds. These patients are seizure disorder patients admitted electively with their anti-convulsant medications on hold and hard wired to continuous EEG. This allows the physicians to identify the area of the brain where the seizures are occurring. Many of these patients become candidates for brain mapping with surgically placed grids to further pinpoint the area causing the seizures. This mapping allows the surgeon to determine if the patient would be a candidate for surgical removal of parts of the brain to stop seizure activity and still allow the patient to have functionality. Department/Unit: Colorectal Surgery & Urology - C2 Work Shift: Day (United States of America) Salary Range: $83,200.00 - $93,184.00 The clinical Nurse contributes to the creation of a compassionate and caring environment for patients, families and colleagues through displays of kindness and active listening. Colorectal Surgery & Urology: The Colorectal Surgery and Urology Unit consists of 22 semi-private rooms. This Post-Surgical setting cares for patients that have undergone colorectal and urologic surgery. The nursing staff will work closely with the Wound Ostomy and Continence Nurses for ostomy and wound care needs. RNs will also care for post-operative patients with TPN, NG tubes, and central lines. Procedures performed on unit: Assist with chest tube insertion, central lines, wound vac changes, NG, Cortrak, catheter, indwelling catheters. The Registered Professional Nurse assesses, coordinates, plans, directs, implements and manages the needs of assigned patients throughout the episode of care with a focus on progress toward discharge, including during transitions within the acute care stay. The Registered Professional Nurse is responsible for the delivery and coordination of patient care provided by the caregiving team. S/he assures that competent, compassionate patient care is uniformly provided to customers including referring facilities, hospital staff and patients in the inpatient, ambulatory, and community settings. Essential Duties & Responsibilities include but not limited to: • Implements physician orders, administers medications, starts IVs, performs treatments, procedures and special tests, and document treatment as required by company policy and local/state/federal rules and regulations., • Orders, interprets, and evaluates diagnostic tests to identify and assess patients' conditions., • Assesses and evaluates patient needs for, and responses to, care rendered., • Applies sound nursing judgment in patient care management decisions., • Provides primary and emergency care for occupational and non-occupational injuries and illnesses., • Administers over-the-counter and prescription medications as ordered., • Collaborates with the nursing team to create a Plan of Care for all patients., • Directs and guides ancillary personnel and maintain standards of professional nursing.
