Personal Injury Paralegal - NYC Belluck Law, LLP is a nationally recognized boutique law firm with locations throughout New York. We specialize in mesothelioma and personal injury cases and are dedicated to seeking justice for clients and their families. The Firm is actively seeking a Legal Services Clerk for its Midtown Manhattan office. The ideal candidate possesses a strong work ethic and excellent attention to detail. Job Summary: This position involves routine communication with clients, ensuring accurate documentation in a digital file management platform (Litify), and drafting legal documents at all stages of litigation. Assigned cases may include those arising from motor vehicle, premises, and/or construction/labor law accidents, false arrests, medical malpractice, nursing home negligence, and negligence on the part of City, State, and other municipal entities. Individuals should be motivated, meticulous, and organizationally strong. Job Title: Personal Injury Paralegal Location: New York City Reports To: Attorneys, Executive Director, and Partners Department: Personal Injury FLSA Status: Non-Exempt Business Hours: 9:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES • Monitor and handle various tasks (see below) on assigned cases, • Maintain the firm’s digital file management platform, • Communicate with clients regarding status of case and medical treatment/conditions, • Facilitate attorney calls with clients, opposing counsel, etc., • Training paralegals – train new paralegals who are hired for PI, • Add/remove cases in eLaw, as needed, • Monitor eLaw and eTrack Court email notifications and update team with any necessary information. CASE WORK ON ASSIGNED CASES Enter/Process New Files: Preliminary Fact Investigation, Digital Platform Maintenance, and Initial Correspondence with Clients, Insurance Companies, and Defense Counsel • Process Insurance/No-Fault claims, • Request police reports, • Submit FOIL Requests, • Research Potentially Liable Parties, • Coordination of Process Service Obtain/Review Medical, Insurance, Employment, Workers’ Compensation, etc., records Draft Litigation Documents: • Summons & Complaint, • Bill of Particulars, • Discovery Demands/Interrogatories, • RJI and Request for PC, • Discovery Motions, • Subpoena Calendar Coordination/Organization: • Schedule depositions, attorney prep, • Order Court Reporters Settlement Document Processing: • Confirm treatment facility, Medicaid, Medicare, and private insurance liens Trial Prep: • Trial Subpoena Drafting and Service Coordination, • Prepare Trial Binder, • Expert Coordination and Material Exchanges: Expert Availability, Exchange Report, Coordinate Attorney Prep Appellate Document Drafting/Processing: • Notice of Entry and Notice of Appeal, • Prepare and file Notice of Appeal, • Enter and file new appellate matter into NYSCEF, • Prepare and service Notification of Appellate Case Number to all parties Qualifications: • Associate Degree or Bachelor’s Degree + Work Experience, • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, • Exceptional research, investigation and critical thinking skills, • Excellent time management skills, • Familiarity with Online NYS and Federal Court Platforms: eCourts, NYSCEF, PACER, • Proficiency in MS Office Suite, specifically Adobe, Word and Excel It is the policy of Belluck Law, LLP to recruit, hire, train, promote and administer all Human Resources actions, without regard to unlawful consideration of race, creed, color, religion, age, sex, gender, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, ancestry, disability, pregnancy, marital status, genetic information or any other consideration made unlawful by Federal, State or local laws.
