Performs related work as required. Examples of Typical Tasks: 1. Makes periodic inspections tours throughout buildings and grounds to examine doors, windows, gates, locks and equipment., 2. Checks for trespassers, fires, leaks from water or steam lines, or any other causes which might result in property damage and/or loss., 3. Discourages loitering, prevents trespassing and maintains order., 4. Answers telephones and doorbells., 5. In emergencies, operates elevators., 6. May operate heating equipment. Minimum Qualifications 1. Valid New York State Security Guard registration card issued by the Department of State; and, 2. Satisfactory completion of a 16-hour On-the-Job Training (OJT) course within ninety (90) days of employment. Special Note: Employees in this title are required to complete an 8-hour in-service training course within one (1) calendar year of completion of the 16-hour OJT course, and annually thereafter.
