Job Description JOB-19062 Accountant 2 - 25415 A Senior Accountant manages complex accounting/auditing, designs/revises systems, prepares detailed financial statements & reports (like budgets, audits), reconciles accounts, ensures compliance, advises departments, and may supervise staff, requiring professional experience and strong analytical/technical skills, often with a Bachelor's in accounting/related field and relevant experience or CPA license, functioning as a key liaison in financial operations. Key Responsibilities: • Financial Reporting: Prepare monthly/annual financial statements, budgets, forecasts, and specialized reports (e.g., cash receipts, aging)., • System & Procedure Management: Design, implement, and modify accounting systems and procedures to meet federal/state/local requirements., • Analysis & Reconciliation: Perform complex reconciliations, analyze transactions, identify discrepancies, and provide financial analysis for decision-making., • Compliance & Auditing: Audit contracts, vouchers, and filings; ensure adherence to accounting standards and laws (like Insurance Law/Financial Services Law)., • Interdepartmental Support: Advise other agencies/departments on accounting matters and respond to internal/external inquiries., • Supervision: May exercise supervision over junior accounting staff. Typical Qualifications - Education: Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or related field, with specific accounting credit hours often required. Master's degree or CPA license can substitute or enhance qualifications. 24 hours of accounting education. Experience: Several years of professional accounting/auditing experience, managing the full cycle of accounting activities. Skills: Strong Excel (formulas, pivot tables), web-based/software system proficiency, analytical skills, attention to detail, and professional communication.
