Job Details Location: Johnson City, NY 13790 (Southern Tier, New York) Unit: Med Surg ST 3 – Cardiac Telemetry Stepdown / PCU Job Title: Registered Nurse (RN) – Cardiac Telemetry / Stepdown (PCU) Employment Type: Travel Nurse / Travel Contract Duration: 13 weeks (April 13, 2026 – July 11, 2026) Hours: 36 hours per week Shift: 12-hour rotating shifts; every other weekend required Open Positions: 3 Estimated Weekly Salary: $2,360 - $2,480 per week Job Requirements / Qualifications Minimum 1 year of experience in cardiac telemetry, stepdown, PCU, or acute care setting (Telemetry RN / Cardiac RN experience required) Graduate of an accredited school of Nursing Current New York State (NYS) RN License BLS Certification (AHA, HSI, or American Red Cross) ACLS Certification required Completion of telemetry skills checklist required Clinical experience managing cardiac procedures and conditions, including (but not limited to): TAVR, Watchman, mitral clips, and heart catheterizations Pre/post-op open heart care, post-op CABG (>3 days) Cardiac drips and IV/PO cardiac medications (e.g., Cardizem, Amiodarone, Dobutamine, Lidocaine, Milrinone) Anticoagulation management, TR band and groin care Acute conditions: CHF, arrhythmias, NSTEMI/STEMI, PE, stroke, sepsis, pneumonia Observation patient management and complication management Strong collaboration, communication, critical thinking, and time management skills English proficiency (read, write, speak) Preferred: Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) and professional certification in a related specialty Primary Responsibilities Provide safe, patient-centered nursing care for a group of patients on the Cardiac Telemetry / Stepdown (PCU) unit Function as primary nurse and/or accountable nurse per unit assignment Perform continuous cardiac telemetry monitoring and interpret telemetry data for early identification of changes in patient condition Assess, plan, delegate, coordinate, implement, and evaluate nursing care; document accurately in the medical record Safely administer medications and manage cardiac drips per facility policy Deliver patient and family education on cardiac disease management, post-procedure care, and health promotion Complete required skills checklists and demonstrate competency in telemetry and PCU procedures Comply with nursing practice standards, regulatory requirements, and hospital policies Participate in unit council, quality improvement initiatives, peer review, and continuing professional development Mentor and support new employees and students, fostering a learning environment Promote a caring, healing, and patient-centered environment Perform other duties as assigned Why join us?
